FS: 95 Maxima SE auto Metro Detroit, MI

After 7 years, it's time to move on ... I needed something to be able to carry my 2 kayaks with ease and now drive a 2008 Nissan Rogue.

My 1995 Nissan Maxima SE automatic is for sale. It was purchased in June 2001 with 77,183 miles. Now has 144,719 miles on the odo. Driven less than 10,000 miles/yr, 75% highway miles. I average anywhere from 25 - 28 mpg in the summer time.

KBB for private party good = $3,190, excellent = $3,595 while retail excellent = $4,980.
Price is $3,500 without 17" wheels, $3,850 with 17" wheels firm. It is a fair price, considering the age, condition and repairs which are described in detail below.

If sold without wheels, the wheels will be available separately for $400 picked up. Also have DavidL red/clear tails, stock SE springs, pair of rear struts in good condition, manual A/C control unit, 6 disc CD changer, trunk liner, stock spoiler with damaged mounting holes which will be sold separately only after the car is sold. If you wish to buy my car and are interested in any of these items, please ask me about them as I would prefer to offer them to the buyer of my car.
  • Power windows, power door locks with alarm and keyless, sunroof
  • Power steering - no leaks, works great
  • A/C blows cold, heater works
  • Optima red top battery
  • Euro clear front sidemarker and turn lamp assemblies
  • Altima trumpet dual horns installed
  • Brand new keyfob and key. Original owner's manual and booklet.
  • K&N lifetime re-usable air filter with recharge kit included
  • 35% window tint w/ lifetime Ziebart warranty

The good:
Brakes, suspension, exhaust, transmission has had significant work done in the last few years. Things you'd otherwise have to worry about if you bought a car of this age and mileage.
Also including an all weather fitted car cover, Haynes repair manual, genuine OEM maintenance parts (fan belt and compressor belt, PCV valve), original amber sidemarker and turn lamp assemblies.

The bad:
- Front right wheel bearing is starting to go.
- Radio LCD display is messed up but I have a spare 1CD Nissan radio that I'll include if you want. Rear speakers are original and won't handle bass.
- Minor starter hesitation at times but it's never been a problem.

Mechanical

Engine: Original and runs strong. Never had to do anything other than preventative maintenance.
- Oil changed with Mobil 1 synthetic & genuine Nissan filters @ 6000 mile intervals.
- New NGK platinum spark plugs last year.
- Starter replaced at 95,846 miles ($397.37 - 01/29/04) due to starter whine.
- Coolant flush last done at 103,903 miles Dec '05.

Transmission: No slipping, shifts great.
- Full rebuild at 97,093 miles ($2,197.67 - 07/02/04). No slipping.

Exhaust: Good condition. No leaks or holes.
- Newer OEM low mileage muffler Jan '04, stainless steel y-pipe Dec '06. Original cat.

Brakes: Completely replaced by self, old fluid was flushed out.
- New brake calipers, rotors, HAWK ceramic pads June '07 ( > $400 spent in parts)

Suspension:Tokico HP lowering kit w/ new OEM brackets, bushings, bolts Nov '06
- Tokico HP lowering kit in front and rear ( > $700 spent in parts)

Tires:Comes with 15" stock alloys, will need to be replaced soon.
For an extra $350, you'll get genuine 2K2 Altima 6 spoke 17x7" alloy wheels sporting Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105 98W 225/50-ZR17 ultra high performance all season tires. Tires were installed June '07 at a cost of $375 and have under 10,000 miles. $350 for the tires AND rims is a steal.

Miscellaneous repairs done at shop not already mentioned:
- Driver CV boot 89,765 miles ($185.05 09/03/03)
- Passenger halfshaft 113,626 miles ($228.29 03/02/06)
- Passenger balljoint and alignment 134,842 miles ($201.60 08/03/07)
Body

Exterior:
- No accidents. All panels original except trunk lid which was replaced due to rust around spoiler mounting holes.
- Original paint is clear and glossy. Some minor scratches, few paint chips as expected for a car this age.
- Panels are straight but there's a ding on each side (am very careful when parking to avoid ding damage but it was bound to happen).
- Minor rust starting at rear wheel due to Michigan winters, was retouched.

Interior:
- Clean! No other way to describe it. Non-smoker, no eating in the car.

Stuff:

Original 15" wheels you get with the car:

For $350 more, I'm including 17x7" 2K2 genuine Nissan Altima wheels sporting Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105 98W 225/50-ZR17 ultra high performance all season tires. They have less than 10,000 miles on them and have a treadwear rating of 420 so they should last many more years. Dry, wet and snow traction is pretty decent. $350 is a steal considering that it is for both tires and rims!

It was quick ... posted on craigslist on monday, got a lot of interested people, first person that came out tuesday wanted to buy it, paid me cash on wednesday. i even got calls on wednesday from people hoping that it didn't get sold, so they could buy it. I guess people are dropping their SUV's and pickups in favor of something more economical for the daily commute.

I have a bunch of stuff for sale ...
- stock SE springs (actually, it's the completely assembled bolt in assembly)
- pair or good condition rear struts, lower mileage which I was going to use but never did
- A/C heater control unit
- 1-DIN 6CD changer
- DavidL red/clear tails
- trunk lid liner
- trunk cargo net
- spoiler with working LED but mounting holes are damaged

Will post ad up in August with pics and prices in the for sale section. Feel free to PM me if you're interested in any of the above items, I'll be sure to let you know when I post my ad up.

Thanks
