'99 Maxima GXE - 5 spd - Low Miles - Exc. - San Antonio - $4500

I'm the 2nd owner (since 1-01) of this champagne (gold) Max. It's the base GXE with a hard to find 5 spd. It's in mechanically exc. shape, always been covered/garaged, the paint/body is in great condition other than the accumulation of 10 years of parking lot and road knicks, and the interior is also well above par for the age.

Just passed 88k on the clock, so the car has low miles for a '99.

*Well maintained - I don't abuse my cars - synthetic oil, trans lube, power steering fluid, antifreeze. Fresh fluid in brake lines/clutch line.

*Wheels are from an '01, I think - they personally looked better to me. Yokohama Avid tires with plenty of life (I think I've got 20k on 'em & they have a treadware warranty of 70k). Rear sway bar, front strut tower brace (they help, but this never was intended as a really well-handling car.

*Dead reliable - only problem I ever had was at about 50k one of the coils started breaking down and I just replaced all of them at that time. Not a problem since.

Always been a great running, efficient car. I average 25-28 mpg in mixed driving, although I probably drive much more conservatively than most.

Located just east of San Antonio,TX. If anyone's interested email me, or my cell's 210.887.9989. Price is firm, it's really a great car and well worth it! Sorry for no pics. I can email some personally if anyone wants some. Take care!

Sorry about the lack of photos. I don't know how to do it on this site other than as an attachment, and it won't let me do that I can send some to ya by email.

The clutch is original and working fine - no slippage. Hasn't been abused in the 8+ years/60k+ miles I've had it. Personally I think Nissan could've used a beefier unit, but what do I know?

Thanks for passing that info on. I'll definitely give it a shot and see if I can't get something going pic-wise. I really need some better shots anyway; great, more washing, waxing, primping...

just in case anyones interested I checked out John's car sunday and its as he says. Its in a lot nicer condition than many Maximas I've seen that are only half as old, its not hard to tell he's taken care of it. Im not buying it though because of the 5 speed trans. I don't know how yall live with those bulky shifters!!! I gueess Im spoiled coming from Hondas and an Acura - they are so much lighter and shorter shifting! Gonna look for a good auto Max (hopefully in as good of shape as this one. Thanks John, good luck!

Thanks, Will. Yeah, I've been in 3 different Maxs and have never been impressed with the shifting. Even my wife's '91 Toyota PU is more exact and smoother than my Max! I haven't driven a newer 5-6spd, so I don't know how much they've improved.

Will pointed out the small dent in the passenger rear behind the wheel that I take for granted/ignore after all these years. It was from the original owner & not due to an impact, just pushed up against something in a parking lot I think. I've got a Carfax report to show a clean bill of health.

Hopefully some pics.

Darn, I wish!

I think I've seen that one on Craigslist! Good luck selling it, its pretty. I would take a look at it but I just had a 5th gen with lots of problems forced on me as a graduation "present." Makes for one hell of a present when you cant drive the s.o.b.!

Sounds like the kind of humor my dad had when bestowing my graduation present on me - a 1940 something Farmall tractor that had thrown a rod through the oil pan (for the grad that has everything/nothing). Maybe they're hinting at a career in auto mechanics???? Hope you get your Max running soon.

Yes, mine was Craigslist and ended up selling it last week. Gonna miss it...

I hope you got another one to replace it. I'm gonna fix mine up and start attending the meets when I can. I gotta get brakes, struts, and find out if I have a cat. problem or MAF problem... or both. These first year Fifth Gens are a pain! I actually wanted a White 99 or 98 manual.

If I had a choice in that manner, I probably would have REALLY given your car some serious thought!
