2002 Maxima for sale in Orange County

Up for sale 2002 SE 6 spd with 99,000 on the clock. This car is pretty clean inside. I bought this back in March as a third car to play with. Now I find out that I am being laid off at work so I need to recoup some of the money. It’s been a blast to drive but I just can’t afford to keep up with insurance and everything else associated with a “play” car.

I just had a new clutch installed, and replaced the front rotors. The car has been re-sprayed on the right front fender but there is no sign of damage. Carfax and autocheck both reported no damage when I bought the car. There are the miscellaneous door dings and one dent on the roof.

The color is Sterling mist with a black cloth interior. Pictures can be seen at http://www.flickr.com/photos/ajsilvaoc

looking for $3500.00 firm and I need to sell it soon. please email me with questions ajsilvaoc@yahoo.com I am located in Lake Forest.

EDIT::: sorry guys, I am going to have to keep the Max for now. My other car was stolen so this is my only car for now.. As soon as I get everything settled, and if I don't trade it in I'll be reposting it.

I can't believe no one bought it yet. I would have picked it up the next day if you were in TX.
I am looking for affordable 02-03 maxima. I keep checking yours every other day .
I bought my 2002 with 100k for 10k in 2006 (totalled in 2007). Now, 5 years later, I see similar cars listed at 7k. They should be in 4-5k already.

I wish some of you guys were closer to take a look at it. I’ve had a few people come buy (I’ve posted it a couple of places) but everyone seems to want me to give it away.

Let me be perfectly honest with anyone who is interested in looking at this. It’s not in factory new condition. This is a 8 year old car and as such it has some wear and tear. The interior is in really good condition, now that on a scale of 1- 10 I would say is a 9. But the rest of the car needs some TLC. As I mentioned it has dents. They are not gaping holes but door dings. It does burn oil, about a 1qt per oil change (I’ve only done one oil change on it). It does have the 3rd gear crunch, it’s not horrible and if shifted right it’s not noticeable. The sub does cut out on occasion, and as with most 5.5 gens the in-dash 6 disk is flakey at best.

I have priced it taking into account everything that I have just mentioned. I love driving it, and use it as my daily driver right now. Unfortunately for me my circumstances have changed and it’s just not feasible to keep it.

I hope that I have given a little better description of the Maxima.

Ironically even at this price I haven't had any serious interest in it.

WOW! What a deal! I want that car. So what if it's in CA. I'll fly in and drive it to FL. Do you think it would have any problem with a cross country trip? As for the burning oil is there any warranty or recall that covers that? Is it a big problem? Also, does the car have HLSD? Is it a non-smoker car? Thanks.

unfortunately it is not HLSD, but it is a non smoker car. As for driving it to FL, I don't think it would have any problems. But keep in mind it is almost a 10 year old car and prior to me owning it I have no idea how it was cared for. With that being said it is my daily driver and I haven't had any issues with it so far.

The oil burning is a common issue with the 5.5 gen. There isn't much you can do about it. Nissan knows about the issue but won't do anything about it.

The economy is why I'm in this situation to begin with. For me I am more than likely going to have to make a longer commute looking for work, and in CA traffic you almost have to have an automatic. Stop and go traffic SUCKS !!

Do you know if a HLSD diff can be fitted, or possibly a quaife differential, or would it require a trans and TCU swap?

Yah, I've heard about that. I've heard of people doing an engine swap to fix the issue, but I'd rather do a rebuild with performance parts if that would fix it. Does the oil burning cause any performance or runability issues?

As I said, I'm seriously interested. I'm working on getting the cash together and could fly out in a couple weeks if everything is good. Also, if you have some good PDR (Paintless Dent Repair) guys out there I would be interested in getting a quote for having that work done to fix the dings before I buy it/ pick it up. Also, same for tinted windows. How are the tires and brakes? Thanks.

Honestly the HLSD stuff I don't know about.. It was never a big deal to me so I never researched it..

The oil burning hasn't been an issue so far. Like I said I use this as a daily driver and it seems to run just fine. I would be cautious about replacing the engine at this point. If your concerned my suggestion would be run this engine till it dies. I've heard stories of people replacing the engine in these only to have the same issue all over again. The motor is strong so I don't think your would have an issue for a while.

My suggestion for the paint less dent removal and tint would be do it out of state. a good tint job in CA is going to cost you about $300 same with dent removal.

Brakes looked good, looked like 50% pad left. Tires are in ok shape. They have plenty of tread, however I am not a fan of goodyear tires so I don't like them.
