Maxus 2005!?!?!?!
If you want to, sure.. but things are going to be pretty full already for many of us..
meet & greet on friday night.. meet/show on saturday, and track event on Sunday.
Plus it's in the middle of Dallas- not too many patches of grass large enough to play football or anything. I'm not about to tackle someone on the concrete!
plus I'm fat and slow and have bad knees and hoping I don't have to have rotator cuff surgery right now... I'm staying away from physical sports altogether!

I cant play basketball though. My friends back in middle school use to get mad because they said I was making up shots. I was just trying to get them in.

i live about 20 miles from dfw and since i got a 97 maxima about 2 days ago and i randomly came onto this forum just to see what everyone was saying and somehow the dates for this thing is perfect for me it must be a sign from god or something. count me in and look for a gray 97 maxima, perhaps with no mods (financial snags suck) but i will do my best to be there although i'm suppost to be getting a job to get ready for college
also i didn't look through the whole year's worth of thread but i'm sure in there somewhere there are specific details on the location of this meeting and i would rather wait for a reply then go through the whole thread......so if someone could give me the specifics that'd be great
I'm ironing out ALLLL the details with courtesy, the track(s), dyno shop, hotel, etc all this week.
look for a new "official Maxus 2005 thread" very soon.
It will have itenerary, prices on hotels (for the out-of-towners), locations, contact info, etc etc etc.

Sweet!!!! Even tho it seems there is divine intervention for me NOT to go. I WILL find a way.
I'm down with it guys, Matt, that would be tight as sh:t if you could get free dynos and 1/4 mile runs. Good luck, and why don't you come back to T-town and represent...people always talk sh:t about my family sedan on memorial. The never apologize after I beat them either. Oh well, keep us informed.

There's nothing free, unfortunately..
I'm working with a friend who knows the owners of some shops up there to get us some discounted Dyno time, but it won't be free..
same with the tracks... drag racing usually runs $15-25 a night, depending on where you go. The only places open that weekend are 1/8 mile tracks..
the road course will cost $95 a person for a full day there as well.
read my original post for the updates.
Texas Motorplex is CLOSED. period. the manager told me as of June 8th, there will be about 6 feet of dirt on top of the track getting ready for a monster truck race.
now if you want to throw couple million bucks at them and see if they will bump the monster truck races or postpone the construction, then be my guest. I'm not going to waste my time.
there's no other 1/4 mile track in the area to check out either, or I would have done it.

How about a road-course day at TMS? Panoz race school might be willing to work something out. If interested, contact D'Ann via email:

I don't see what's so wrong about an 1/8 mile track like Kennedale or Denton. After all, it will most likely be Maxi's vs Maxi's and people will be less worried about times and more worried about baggin the max next to em. I have been to both Kennedale and Denton in my 86 Vette and I had an excellent time at both.
TMS is out. there's a Craftsman Truck race that weekend...
I confirmed the dyno at Alamo yesterday.. that will be Sat evening from 6-10, after the car show in the morning. $35 for 2-3 runs.
I'm looking into the track at Kennedale for Friday night... Brice at Alamo told me friday night is a typical test & tune night and open to everyone. He said the track is much better than Denton's track as well- and considering the guy builds cars for a living, I'll take his word for it.
that would be a good place to go, and is only about 10 min from Alamo.. Since everything looks to be happening on that side of town, I'm working on getting a different hotel set up now.. The one I have set up currently is near Courtesy, and that's 45 miles away from anything we're wanting to do. (In dallas traffic, that's (over 1 hour drive to get anywhere.) there are sooo many hotels in the Arlington area, that there's no reason to drive that far for the activities...

grrrreat, alamo =(. AT least they're close to my house. Kennedale is super crowded, especially on Friday nights. People will be lucky if they get more than 1 run for their $15. I'm not trying to be a downer, just experience talking.
I don't know what personal problems you have with Alamo, but I've had nothing but good experiences with them..
As for the dragway, it doesn't make much difference.. Kennedale is doing Pro Mod stuff on that night so we can't run anyway.

Man, this just sucks. All this bad news.
Matt, a new custom shop that does dynos just opened a couple months ago in Hurst on Hwy 26. I had my windows tinted at the place next door to them and went and checked them out. They have a Saturday dyno special where you get like 3 runs for $25 so I will call them up to see if I can get more information.

Just curious though, I thought parking was limited at Courtesy (that is where the meet is right?) and we were going to use a portion of the hotel's parking in exchange with us staying there?
So now were staying deeper in Dallas, which is closer to the events but further from the meet location, in which parking is limited?
Im just trying to grasp the situation to get e better idea of what to expect.
Is it possible for some uf us to still stay at the Hotel close to courtesy if that is the meet spot and still recieve some sort of group rate?
Im not trying to be negative in any way and i appreciate all the footwork your doing to get this setup.
The problem is the guys I was contacting at courtesy to line up the hotel DIDN'T, and now the hotel is full. no show there, no NOTHING at Courtesy.
so since we're having everything else 60 miles away, there's no point in having the hotel on that side of town.
the meet will be AT the hotel... courtesy at this point is only willing to set up a booth and throw some parts on the table. Otherwise they want no involvement with the event, so I'm not going to bother doing anything else on that side of town.. I've contacted a few hotels in arlington that have a couple hundred parking spaces and are willing to let us hold the event there. I'm waiting on calls back from a couple places on a availablity and pricing and I'll go from there.

That sounds good to me!
Id rather stay at the same place the meet is going to actually be at anyway.
Once again, thanks Matt93SE for going through all these issues to set this up.
Just keep us updated with the Hotel info, id like to reserve my room as soon as there made available.

So at this point I am guessing it is too late to change the dealer location? It sure doesn't sound like we are getting much from Courtesy and I've got some friends at Bankston that might be willing to help us out.
SOONR1, give me some names and numbers if you would please. I'm looking for a place in Arlington area and I know one of the Bankston dealerships is in Irving.
It's either I find a dealer in that area, or I move the whole event to Houston and I can have it set up in about two days. I have contacts at all the dealers, HRP is open, and I have friends in the hotel business here as well. only problem is the road course is being used that weekend by the Porsche club and they won't let us run on Sunday.

dang man.. this does suck.. why cant Courtesy realize a good thing and jump on it.. sounds like they are just beating around the bush and dont want to commit.. preciate all the work matt.. hopefully lance can pull some connections.. haha... if not it may be more better to move it to houston.. it would suck seeing as gas prices keep climbing.. but hey.. im game.. keep us updated on everything.. thanks again..
yeah... well the big issue is the guy I had working on the hotel & courtesy stuff didn't do it until a few weeks ago.. at that point, Holiday Inn was already booked. courtesy doesn't have the parking themselves, so they rely on holiday inn for the parking for events like this.... since they can't BE the show, they don't want to put forth much effort... so we can't say it's 100% their fault... other people (including myself) dropped the ball on securing the hotel in time, and now that's not happening...
we'll figure something out though.. I'm working on several options now.

Thanks for doing all this work Matt, I hope everything works out in the end. I wouldn't mind if the meet was moved to Houston, if that would make everything come together alot smoother, with the track and all. I'm most of the other guys wouldn't mind either, I mean after driving all the way to Dallas, whats another couple hours?
yup.. that was part of the reason we said dallas tho...
how do you get to houston? you go to dallas, then drive south for 4.5 hours.
so Dallas would be easier for most people to get to.. but if all else fails I'm moving it here... I have the contacts to make it happen here... we'll see tho.. SOONR1 and a couple other guys are making some calls in Dallas to hooks us up with a dealer there.
