Making it back safe

Has everyone made it back safe from Maxus? I know some drove from Florida, Mass., Wisconsin, and some other long journey'd places. Just wanting to see id everyone made it back ok. I know Deezo was having pulley problems from the dyno. Deezo, if you are there, hit us up man.

I took the pulley apart and it looks fine. I think the high heat in the engine back caused the spacer behind the pulley to lock up on the bearing or something. I'll make it back with no problem. I'm still in OK and I'll be heading back to the NE tomorrow morning.

Good, glad to hear, man. Are you going to get a new one back on or drive all the way through?

Glad your car is good Deezo. Arghh, mine leaks oil from the vavle cover gasket. I used 3/4 of a quart of oil on the way back from Maxus

Well, I made it back to OKC in one piece, storms and all (f**king potenzas). It was hairy there for a little while when I was constantly hydroplaning.

I made it back at about 5:15am (14 hours again). I decided to hit the road after I dropped everyone off at DFW yesterday.

Just got back to Wis. Safe, uneventful trip, 17 hours. No bad weather, no mechanical problems. I (and Tim) had a blast down there!

Good to hear everyone got back ok. I got home around 3am this morning, it was a pretty smooth trip. I hit a little rain, but nothing major. It was around 15 hours of driving.

Too quiet and not enough brake dust for my tastes...

But seriously there nice. They don't brake as good as the Hawk HP+ pads, but there not destroying my rotors either.

Ahh, I didn't worry about it after I took it apart and saw that it was still in good shape. However, I am about to head to Goodyear to pick up a new belt.

Good. I think I am going to have my AC belt replaced pretty soon, since my ps belt broke at Maxus I figured I might as well get the other one done too.

3.5 was what I suggested too. He'll have a hell of a lot more room in his engine bay to work with than the 4th Gens.

i've come to my senses.. If I ever want a car that will do more than a 2:00 lap time at my current track, then I need to get away from a 3600lb FWD car that chews through a set of tires in a track day.

After doing the math at what it would cost to build the bottom end and turbo the Maxima (about $4500 to do it right), I could swap a junkyard engine into the Max ($650) and have the same car I have now, PLUS turbo my 240, do a 5 lug conversion on it, AND put some coilovers on the *****.

So then I have a ~200fwhp Maxima that will pull consistent 2:03s out there and outcorner most morons behind the wheel of a real supercer, AND a quick 240SX that handles great. I can use my existing brakes and wheels on the car and the turbo parts I've collected for the Maxima already.

same price and I can have TWO fast cars, not just one.. smarter thing to do than turbo the Maxima and eat a full set of tires every track weekend.

Kenneth, then Shing would think I'm trying to copy him!
I'm gonna build the 240.. as much as Kelly is pissed about me owning three cars... (I've been sleeping on the couch since I told her.. but f*** it. if she can't get over the fact this is what I want to do, then she can pack her sheit and move.)

Or you could simply buy a junkyard VQ35 for a measly $650, put another $2k or so into it and put down the same amount of power and have far less maintenance.

Yes but I think his point was that the 3rdGen will always destroy a set of track tires in one day and that he has reached the limit of its handling performance.
