how will I know if my knock sensor is bad

when I startup my car my car do a lot of knocking shaking in poping need help bad I have a 1999 Nissan Maxima SE

Wrong forum. Repost this in the 4th Gen section. This sounds like something significantly more serious than a knock sensor though. I wouldn't crank the car any more. It sounds like you broke something in the rotating assembly.
