some sort of citrus degreaser...I forget the brand, gunk maybe? I do that then I crank the car and put armor all everywhere (this gives it the new clean look) After you soak every thing in armor all close your hood while the car is running and let it run for a few minutes then turn it off.

*edit* make sure you spray all the degreaser off then wait for the engine bay to dry before you do the armor all. Also armor all is not great for rubber hoses (I just like the way it looks), so I would not recomend doing this all the time.

Seeing your classic Max looking good keeps me loving my car. It's "only" 10 years old, but I'll have it for many years to come.

damn son...how did you get so many posts j/k

yes, you can spray it off with water, when I do this I cover my distributor, my coil, and I would cover my air filter but its in the fender well . Also dont hit electrical connections too hard (i.e. the MAF) I always do this while my car is running to make sure I am not getting water where it should not be (the car will start to stumble if you are getting something wet that should not be wet. I also use hot water when I am doing this, I know alot of people worry about cracking their blocks when they are using cold water on a warm engine...oh well this is the way I have always done it.

* thanks for the compliment mtzgm (I foget if that is exactly how to spell your screen name)....at least you like this one, you are one of the guys that hates my fourth gen
