Evo e-brake handle on 6th Gen Maxima

I went to Mitsu dealer to check out the Momo e brake handle for an 06 Evo MR to match my Evo MR shift ****. I got the same run around when I called dealers since this part is an accessory even though they come on the Evos when they come into port here in USA. The part number is hard to find and NO ONE stocks it. I just happen to know that Glendale Mitsu had one, so I made my way down to Glendale. Oh, and on the way, I picked up some Altima SE-R aluminum pedals from Performance Nissan in Duarte, CA. Thats where I spoted the Max with Nismo rims (check out my thread on that topic.) They only charged me $114 for the pedals!!

TWhen I got to Glendale Mitsu, he took the beautiful e brake handle out of the box and notices a slight scratch on the handle. He told me he would discount it cuz of the scratch. He said the regular price was $172, although they told me $220 when I was there before. When he rang me up, he charged me only $85!!!!!!! Yeehaa!!! U can barely notice it.

When I got my prizes home I put on two of the pedals. Ill do the others later. The e brake handle was tougher. Removing the fugly runner shzit cover of the stock brake was tough. I ended up jamming a screwdriver between the shaft and the rubber(!!) cover and finally after cutting my figner and spraining my wrist, got the motha off. The Evo handle has a nub inside that had to be sanded off which was very easy since its aluminum. Then is slides right on. I need to get a leather boot for it but here are pics. In one pic, the aluminum pedals are seen. Let me know what you think! Gd I love my car.

I was gonan get a shop vac today but was too busy, J!! LOL. The clutch and brake pedals were a bit of a bzitch. I havent doen other two yet. The dead pedal is gonna require some work. The regular Alti has plastic dead pedal that snaps in place. Since we dont have that, I am going to grind off the nubs on the plastic underside, and then screw it in with black drywall screws. The accelerator pedla should be a swap. Ill keep u posted.

I thought about aftermarket pedals, but the stock ones basically bolt in, and they look sharp.

I cant wait to see the next gen evo, unfortunately its going to be in mid 2007...but good I guess bc the max will be almost paid off. Mitsubishi offers a 5yr 60k bumper to bumper and a 10y 100k powertrain...I couldnt believe that, thats definately the clincher for me after dealing with warrenties!

Myer84: Here is how I removed the fugly rubber parking brake boot. First you pull the metal ring out of the nose of the handle, right where the button is. I then removed the trim at the base of the parking brake (plastic aluminum). This opens the bottom of it and you have access to the entire boot. I heard using a blow dryer softens the rubber to where u can remove it. I tried it and it may have helped, but not much. What worked was jamming a screwdriver through the nose of the handle, right where the metal ring was. U try to separate the rubber from the metal shaft. if u dont care about the boot u can always cut it off. it took some work but it popped off. Actually it was so much work, I ended up spraining my wrist, grrrr. But that was before I used the screwdriver on it. Its a worthwhile mod!!!

wow, i think that looks really nice...were you also in the middle of installing the AE (or w/e ya'll 6th genners call them) pedals? In the first picture, you can see that the clutch pedal is missing, but in the last one it's there and the accelerator pedal is missing

You don't serve Hamburger's with rice!

Get your max some damn French Fries (wood grain trim), It's 30k car that weighs over 4 thousand pounds man!

I don't like it, but through my eye, hand brake's are actually pretty ugly no matter how you dress'em up. Wish the pedal with leaver release was still around.

Vacuum's a good idea too, been choppin wood lately??

Actually the Max weighs in a LOT less than 4,000 lbs, unless everyones data is wrong. My shop vac broke and I have been looknig for one, but I wanted to get these pics up, so I had to forego the vacuum til I buy a new one. Not only do I love the new look of the pedals, e-brake handle, and shift ****, but I love the solid feel too.

Dues, did you have to cut your Ebrake rubber off in order to install the EVO handle? I did because my Ebrake handle (TENZO-R) is billet aluminum and encloses the whole upper handle shaft.
