Nightshots: Maxima w/Work fully polished VS-XX (16 pictures; 4.13MB)
I recently purchased a set of Work VS-XX's for my Maxima. They were in bad shape. The chrome was chipping and lifting. I just got done removing the chrome and finished repolishing the wheels.
When I got them (peeling chrome):
After glassbead blasting to remove the chrome. The nickel undercoating is still there (very tough to remove). Lip is polished in picture:
Center caps (before):

Rivets oxidization (before):

Amazing job! Did you clearcoat them afterwards? Can you give a little more detail about how the job was done? My bro has some chrome wheels that are very chipped up and I want to fix them, but there is this black undercoating.

First, you will have to disassemble the wheel if it is a multi-piece wheel. Then, you have to glassbead blast the chrome coating off. Pitting will be underneath where the bubbling is. The black coating is an undercoating. I don't know which one exactly is on your brother's wheels, but it is definitely a hard metal undercoating. You will have to grind/feather the coating off on the ENTIRE surface of every wheel! It's tedious (longest step). Sanding comes after. 60, 120, 220, 320, 400, 600, 800, 1000, 2000, then metal polish. Then reassembly.
I am thinking of polishing wheels on the weekends for some extra money. So if you are interested in getting yours polished, just PM me.

i always loved the work vsxx.. i wanted a set of these wheels for my maxima, but they're pricey. I would love a set with gold centers and a fat polished lip like yours..

thats not bad actually. Thanks
BTW, I forgot to comment but i like these rims a lot, especially on your car. My friend has them on his 240 and he paid a crap load for them. I give you props on offset too; not a lot of people really care about offset and stance.

I base my wheel purchases mainly on offset and width, closely followed my design.
