So I got a honda....
My new daily driver...06 honda cbr

Hoping it treats me well on gas...and Im scared ****less of this bike. Lots of new drivers go in with too much confidence and drop their bikes. I have respect for the bike and know its capable of getting me into trouble. Since Im a new rider, I plan on taking it very easy. No highway driving for some time. Maybe next summer.

you should take a drivers course.... know ur limits. good luck.
im scared of that sh*t too...ever i since i almost ran into a mail box on my dads ninja going around the block. i had to pull the hand brake quickly and it lifted onto its front wheel (yeah, wrong hand
). did u know ur whole body has to lean when u go around a turn??
yeah, im scared of bikes.

I also got myself an 03 Honda 600RR that was setup for track/racing and it is a sweet ride. As all the other posts suggest be cautions of your surroundings Luke, use the force. My riding philosophy is that everyone is out to kill you so be prepared. If you really want to be safe get yourself some gear and go to the track. You get to ride at your comfort level without all the danger of other motorists. Have fun.

spend some money and get some good riding armor. there's nothing like being seriously scarred for life because you fell while wearing normal clothes.

I got it used but new it should run you about $9000. Gixxers are great bikes too. Suzuki and Honda are my favorites but Im not a big fan of yamahas or kawasakis. To each their own. Only reason I took the cbr over the gixxer was because imo the cbr looks cleaner (simple design, exhaust under the seat). Gixxers look flashy whereas the cbr looks more subtle. But I definitely wouldnt mind owning a gixxer one day.

just a slip on...next summer I'll get a full akrapovic system but I heard they result in low end power loss. The bike has the basic cosmetic things like integrated tails, flushmounts, tinted windscreen. Have pics of your bike?
Cool bike, what I don't like is the underseat exhaust system.... your azz gets hot from the hot exhaust which is inches away from your behind. Another thing is the very thin uncomfortable seat pad.
I'm a Kawi rider, and I agree- everyone out there is hating on you when you are riding. Especially since you have the agility and power to get away between cars when you need to. I find myself cutting my commute to work by quite a bit when I ride (which is all the time).
Highways can get a bit scary, the wind gets very annoying. Replace that silly windscreen if you intend to do any highway riding. I got a 90 mile round trip ride to work if I take the highway (faster, more dangerous, more fun ?) or 75 miles on the streets, slower yet kinda cool because of alot of turns and such. I average 200 miles per tank when I fill up. Each time its about 3.4 gallons. Sometimes I will get around 220 if I keep the bike under 10K RPM, but they didn't give me a 15K RPM redline for nothing !

yea man...the bike came with 2 joe rocket jackets and 2 helmets and gloves. So that saved me some money. You really dont like the undertail exhaust? Thats what attracted me to the cbr:

I have not noticed my *** getting hot from the exhaust temps and if I remember correctly, that problem was limited to the 03-04 cbrs and it was fixed in the 05+ models.
I remember your green kawa...sexy bike! I was going to get a gixxer but I did not want to fall into the stereotypical gixxer crowd and secondly I find the cbr to be more subtle in terms of design.
