Fixed it. My caliper guide pin was dry as a bone, lubed that up real good so now the pad doesn't stick.

Picked up a GoPro Hero 3 Silver edition with accessories, watercase, and bag for $140. Ordered a 32GB memory card and suction mount for $40 so $180 is not bad for a ready to go GoPro kit

Installed my short shifter, it was a 2 minute job. Basically it makes the shift cable sit higher as depicted in the diagram and the picture.

I was doubtful of it because I paid $25 for a thin piece of metal, but man this makes a huge differece! Shifts are much shorter and crisper, driving is actually a whole lot more fun.

Checkz it out

yep, theyre leaky engines. had the same thing with the 7M in my Crown, i assume a old person owned it in Japan, a old black lady drove it the odd time over here, and right when i got it the HG blew at 95,000km even though the thing was probably never taken past 2500rpm

nightmare. i figured i would do it all myself, the literally a few days later my dad died suddenly so didnt want to deal with the car and paid a JDM specialty place to rebuild the whole top end for $3500. the guy that did it put the cams in backwards so it wouldnt start, they had to tear it apart again to fix it at that point i was ready to lol

Sounds like a rough time, sorry about your father.

Fail on the shop's part. I would have had a field day with them if that happened to me, try and knock off a few dollars you know

thanks, it wasnt that bad since you can swap cams around on 7M without causing damage. i wasnt pissed, mistakes happen but to get the cams mixed around you have to be out of it lol

Just doing some more maintenance. Changed out the trunk clockspring so the trunk would stay up and checked the timing.

Wanted to try out the time lapse mode on this GoPro Hero 3. Should be in 1080p as well, check it out:

And here is the timing belt, looks like it will need to be replaced eventually but can hold for now:

^Cool beans!

Picked up an exhaust for $50. Its for the turbo mr2 so it needs to be fabricated a little to fit my header. And there is a small leak but a weld fixes that.

It's an exhaust and a mid-pipe. Not bad for the price!

The MR2 is definitely the best car for hauling materials around

Yes, Bob Marley mahn!

Not sure if its the angle of the pic, but the pipe looks a little bent/creased before it splits off onto the two mufflers.

Oh yeah, it is bent so it sits weird but it still sounds the same. Going to see if the shop can make the mufflers sit level with each other

My exhaust is too bent to be put on or fabbed but one the other hand I had the rusty flange and gasket cut off and replaced with pipe that was welded on. $50
gained back a decent amount of torque and top end actually. It was a bad leak
and I've learned how to be careful with money now

So I got my polyurethane sway bar bushings today. Front and back for $17 shipped is not bad. One of them is cracked and they are for 19mm bars. haven't even measured mine so they may or may not fit lol. Guess I will find out later

NEEDS BO0O0OST

but good start so far, what suspension you got on the thing is it still stock spring/strut combo or coils? if not the latter i would order some COs it will probably be the best handling mod you buy. BC's are the standards for decent budget COs. All other budget stuff its most likely ****.

Psshhh please, I've seen your I30 and, well...

It came with TEIN coilovers. It's planted but still not very confidence inspiring. Since the front is so light and all the weight is in the back, the handling is lightning quick but the back follows with a delay and so the back end quicks out quite a bit nowadays especially in the rain. Fun, but no doubt scary at times.

Just going to focus on suspension and maintenance since can't get much power out of the 5SFE.

How is your boostedmax coming along? I read that thread awhile ago

Ok, the tien basics iirc. Those should be good with moderate power/handling goals.

the I30 is almost at completion getting the turbo out of the machine shop tomorrow putting it on the car and figures crossed it acts right.
