Need with my A/C...?
Need with my A/C...?
I have a 5th gen Maxima. Heater works great, but my a/c doesn't. I took it to a good shop I know. They vacuumed out any moisture, checked for leaks and refilled the refrigerant. It was blowing cold when I left the shop. I turn it off and back on, and I get nothing? Any helpful threads or links would be greatly appreciated!
Welcome to Maxima.org!
There are a lot of threads on a/c not working, you need to learn how to use the search function.
The a/c not blowing cold air is broken down into 2 major categories:
1 - the compressor is running.
2 - the compressor is not running. This is probably 98% of the cases.
You need to find out which one of these apply to you.
Personally, I thing your a/c system has a leak and the refrigerant level is low. Maybe your mechanic missed finding a leak, maybe he didn't tighten a connection tight enough or maybe you have a bad Schrader valve, which would be a leak the mechanic missed.
Also, you should be aware that the Maxima has a sensor to detect when the refrigerant pressure is low. If this happens, the compressor will not run.
Unless you can work on the car yourself, take the car back to the mechanic and have him check it out. Or maybe a different mechanic for a second opinion.
In case you are interested in getting the service manual, you can download it from here:

Two other things:
When you start a thread on Maxima.org, please tell us about your car. Since every year of the 5th generation Maxima has differences, we need all the relevant information. Year, model, transmission, mileage are the bare minimums.
Any future threads you start because of a car problem, please use the 5th generation forum.
