Hi Guys and Gals,

Just picked up a 1-owner 2000 GXE with 47K miles. Obviously garaged kept. Headlight lenses are like new, rides like new, no rust. Has factory leather, power drivers seat, upgraded sound system, spoiler, and no sunroof - thankfully.
Engine doesn't want to rev over 3000 rpm, but I'll figure that out.

Bought this for my 2 daughters to drive, and later, my 14 year old son. I'll probably drive it a lot because Maxima's are awesome. The young-ins think it's a old-man car - I hope so because that will make it better. They'll probably warm up to it when I install an touchscreen bluetooth sound system - that will make it good - to them.

Regarding the low rpm, I'm wondering if the hood switch - open - triggers limp mode. The hood latch is broken and the hood doesn't go all the way down. Will hold down the switch, and see if the engine revs normally I literally picked the car up, drove straight to airport parking for my business trip, and won't get back to it until Saturday - 3 days from now.
Otherwise, I suspect blocked exhaust as the most likely of many potential causes.


Fourth Maxima I've bought. The other three were very good and fun to drive.
Previously owned a 1990, GXE (i think), auto. Stayed in the family > 250K, and someone had to have it for $1500. I can't remember anything ever breaking, and it didn't develop body rust. Obviously had multiple brake replacements, and 2 mufflers.
93 SE, 5-speed. A few minor problem but very enjoyable. Sold at ~74K, and didn't develop body rust.
2003 GXE, auto: This one began rusting at the rear wheel wells after 5 years and 118K, even with being garaged.

Have a 2011 G37x, very fun and comfortable, gets 28mpg cruising above 75 mph. Has had a few minor problems, like the '93 Gen 3 Max had.
