Funky power problem
Funky power problem
My car is a '98 Maxima GLE, fully loaded and here is my problem.
Let the car sit for a week at a friends house, he was going to fix some minor body problems while I was on vacation. Came home to pick up the car and he told me the battery went dead. He charge it and it started fine. The next morning the car would not start, I thought bad battery. I put a battery from my old Chevelle in the car just so my girlfriend could drive it to work. The parking lights went on, misc dash lights lit up, all with the key off. Went to start the car, nothing. Put the old battery back in and all the lights went off, but it was to weak to start the car. Did not try to jump it because it was real late and I was going to buy a new battery the next day. Next day I put in the new battery. Car started right up, but the dash lights, radio, windshield wipers, power windows, power locks, and alarm system did not work. Drove the car for about 5 min. and pulled into the driveway. Turned the car off and then tried to start it, nothing. Looking under the hood, I noticed the fuse/relay block next to the battery controlled all the components I mentioned above. Is there a main fuse for that particular circuit? If so where is it?
Any help would be appreciated.
John

I found part of the problem tonight, a couple of fuses were blown under the dash and a main 120a fuse in a fuse holder next to the battery was blown. What a pain in the *** to get out. Of course it is a Nissan only part, so I will get one tommorow. I hope this will fix my problem.
I checked on wwww.car-part.com and they ranged from $35 to $150..they say they come with a key so im guessing if this part is replaced your old key wont be any good. But before u buy ANY parts, be 110% sure that part is the part thats causing the problem.
This is a funky power problem.
Hopefully the culprit is a fuse or relay.
I'll start with the least cheapest parts first.
