99 Gauge Bulbs

I've been trying to find out about the bulb size for the 99's. Now many members have said that the 194's work behind the dash but I ordered some from Autodynamic (194 1-LED) and they are not nearly the same. Does anyone know the right bulb application for behind the instrument panel (IE gauges)? I've been searching for a few hours now and cane come up with nothing. Thanx

Re: 99 Gauge Bulbs

I own a 96 SE and I just changed the bulbs behind my dash, and yes they were 194s. I bought the 194s from Canadian Tirethey were called 'Victor 194 auto bulbs'. I know they are some differances bewteen the 95/96 and they 97-99 but I am almost 100% sure that the bulbs behind the dash are the same in every 4th gen. Mabye you ordered the wrong bulb?

*sigh*

99's are not 194s.

You cannot get aftermarket bulbs for the gauge cluster for a 99.

95-96 are 194's

some 97's are 194's

some 97's are not.

98-99 are not 194s and you can only get replacement bulbs from the dealer.

they are not 194 on the 98-99(digital odo.), they dont make any aftermarket light for the lights behind the gauges, actually the only place that the bulbs are 194 is the light for the automatic shifter.

however you can take the LED's you bought and mod them to make them fit. just shave around the bulb to make it fit the hole and trim the tab to make it fit in to the socket.

just a warning you wont be able to really see the needles on the gauges without a needle kit.

let me know if you need any more help, since i did this.

thanx Geo...I'll try that this weekend if the rain ever stops here in NJ. Send some pics if you get a chance so I know what I'm looking at here. I got the Red needle kit from Import Intelligence and am goin to install that together with the modified lights. I put the blue LEDs in the step light. Figured I should get some use out of them. Lata. I'll post pics when it's all done
