After whining and complaining that i couldn't build the mounting plates to put my 6.5" kenwood excelons in the front doors, i've just decided to rig it the lazy white boy way. i zip tied the speakers so they sit in the footwell underneath the seat overhang. they face foreward, bouncing sound off the dash. sounds better than bose, but not as good as when they are pointed at your head.

other news: stereo system is complete. Rockford Fosgate 800.2 powering 2 12" pioneer subs in sealed box, CerwinVega 6x9s in the rear and kenwood excelon 6.5"s up front all running on a clarion 400.4. Pioneer premier DEH-???? w/organic EL display.

next on my list is some aftermarket lighting. i'm going to get some nice amber/ion/projection fogs for stock locations, and in the middle i'm going to place two 380,000 candlepower driving lights. any recommendations as to where to buy the fogs? i think i'll get the driving lights from jcwhitney...

How's that 800.2 working for ya? I'm looking at buying one, but I haven't had the best of experiences with my 160.2 right now...

 

i'm not familiar with the 160.2, but my guess is if it only puts out 160 watts, you're in serious need of more power. the 800.2 is awesome. i used to have Rockford Fosgate HE2 DVC woofers... wow, did it drive those. it's nearly as good with the pioneers, but i would consider getting a higher powered amp before you give up.

 

u should really take the time to make pods...the sound is amazing...i had my 6.5 in a plate thing in the door, but when i went to pods, wow...sounded awesome...good stuff

 

hahaha that is GHETTO man... you can do better then that!! man i fit my 6.5s in there ghetto rigged, and then sealed it with caulk and it sounds damn good..

 

i traced my bose pods and made a bracket out of 1/2" plywood, and cut everything to fit.
its wicked WICKED ghetto, but it does the job. maybe i'll get motivated and make pods one day, but for now the quarts sound good (referance 6.5" comps).
