car sluggish after oil change

car sluggish after oil change

i just replaced my own oil for the first time. i took it for a drive right after and now its real sluggish. i have to floor it and wait about 5 seconds before it starts to move. it doesn't have that kick anymore. any ideas on what it could be? i did a search and found nothin. please help. thanks.

your new oil is TOO thick... meaning to viscous.

just a thought... might not be the right answer.

How many quarts did you put in? too many and these symptoms will occur. WHat oil weight did you use?

i put in 4 quarts of Castrol 10w-30.

oil filter?

or maybe the pump in the oil pan is getting weak, or dirty or something.

you might want to put some oil system cleaner or detergent through. BG MOA is good i heard.

thanks for all your help. i found out what it was. after i drained out all my oil, my dad volunteered to help me refill it while i worked on the other car. we bought 2 5-quart bottles of Castrol GTX oil. one was 10w-30 and one was 20w-50. he must have not been paying attention and put in the 20w-50 in my car instead of the 10w-30. anyway, i drained out that oil...added a quart of the 10w-30 to flush out what might have been left and added the rest of it so now the car is running much smoother and has its kick back. i just wanted to say thanks to all you helped.
