Cup Holder fix

Anyone out there found a way to fix the cupholder. Mine refuses to stay retracted. I disassembled it, but cannot figure out why the latch isn't latching, or what it's supposed to latch to.

My two cents worth...literally.
Before I sold my 92 SE 5 speed I used two pennies to hold the cup holder (if you can really call it a cup holder) closed.
Just wedged them in the one side.
