What is the deal with the word "Hyper"?
The word Hyper has become very popular these days when describing Import performance parts. Hyper lights, Hyper intakes, Hyper exhausts, Hyper wires, etc. What does this word mean in Japanese because most of these Hyper parts come from Japan. Does Hyper mean "exciting", "fast", "ricer", what? Just curious.

Oh, you guys didn't know? "Hyper" in Japanese means "very-cheap-quality-rice-product-that-is-designed-to-make-your-car-slower." Because those Civic's that have Hyper parts on them don't have enough traction.
In Japanese culture, I believe there exists an interesting link between "Hyper" aftermarket auto parts and the "Hyper" qualities of Japanese TV commercials, variety shows, cartoons, and video games. Perhaps one of us can travel to Japan to conduct research in this area. Obviously, many test drives of high-powered Japanese sports cars will be necessary.
