Changing belts?

Man I was looking under the hood the other day and there isn't much room at all to replace the serpintine belt and the other smaller belt on the 99 Max? Is this a difficult task without a lift? I am thinking about just taking it to the dealer and paying the $90, although I am totally against taking my car for simple repairs, this one looks like it might be a bit of a headache to perform myself, the skilled mechanic I am! HAHA

You have to access the belts from the right wheelwell. The biggest pain are the pivot bolts on the power steering pump, everyting else is not much of a problem.

If you choose to have someone else do the work, I would find a competent mechanic with a lot less overhead than a dealer. This job just doesn't warrant a $75/hour labor rate.

Just did both of mine yesterday. Was'nt that big of a deal.

Did find that my alt belt tensioner pulley was toast. $52 at my local dealer and all is well.

This also fixed my intermittant high pitched whistle sound........bearing failure.......
