Custom big brake kit installed

This weekend Kev and i put on a custom big brake kit so here are the pics...hope they work

12.5" 3000GT VR4 rotors and 300ZX calipers

still breaking in the pads so far so i havent mashed on it yet. intial feel is pretty good but we'll see after a few days.the brackets that we used push the caliper out about 10mm so uhmm my wheels didnt clear anymore. orginally this should have been a 1-2 hour project but of course we ran into alot of probs and it turned into about an 8 hour project. thanks for the help Kev, and also to Jane and Jeff for driving 80mph in the garage...heeh

What kind of bracket did you use to get the caliper to clear the 12.5" rotor? Did you have to make it custom?

Also how much did the Rotors cost you? And is this for the front only?

Did the caliper come red or did you paint it?

sorry for all the questions, but it does look hot!!

calipers dont come painted like that. We painted it ourselves and grinded paint off the NISSAN so it would stand out a bit. brackets are sold by Ginn Motorsports. If you have access to a machine shop you could get it done for much cheaper and fitment wasnt excatly the best either.

pics dont work anymore...did i link em wrong?

Hehehehe It took a little longer than 8 hours with all the places we had to go to.

No problem.

Nice job Matthel. What wheels are you running if your other ones don't clear?

Re: nice pics!!

damn matthel.. that's hot.. with the 12.2" ers no one notices them, plus they arent crossed drilled or slotted so that might help.

what did you end up doing for wheels if yours didnt fit?

97MaxGurl,

i got SS lines, but they got the ugly blue coating on em.

bigsadler,

which 12.2" are you talkin bout? the ones i used are crossdrilled/slotted also. the other slotted one was the Z rotors.
i used Tantrums, because of the spoke design, there is ALOT of clearance. on a 40mm offset on Tantrums there is still room to spare, on my TR MotorSPort Typhoons with a 35mm offset wouldnt clear.

I have the fastbrakes 12.2" lightweight directional vane rotors without crossdrilling or slotting.. If I can find a place in Florida to drill and slot I will definitely get it down.

I think my wheels are 40mm offset, but I need 2 wheel spacers for clearance on the wilwood rotors..

bigsadler, what kind of rims are you using? i think spoke design makes more of a difference the offset.

Yeah I know. . . I only see, I don't know, 5 cars a day with rims like mine. At least Matthel will look like 1/4 of the other members on the board. Maybe if he continues to get what everyone else has he might get the props he deserves.
