Need a little help from those with the supercharger!

Well I finally got mine installed and everything was going good until I went to wash the car for a show we had this weekend and I noticed that the belt had been getting shreaded up by something. So I looked around and under the car and noticed that the belt was slipping off of one of the auxillary pullies. I don't know if the guy that put it on just didn't get it on or if it had shifted its way off. Anyway, the charger started to make a vibrating sound, almost like the pully was shaking or something. So went to the show and then was on my way home and when I gave it gas at about 55 the belt broke and all the dash lights came on but somehow I was still able to drive, luckily I was close to my destination. Well my question is how hard is it to change the belt now that the charger is on because the guy that installed the charger is going out of town for two weeks and I don't want to wait! Also what is the belt part # ? And will I be able to get the belt at AutoZone?

On the positive side the boost is awesome, I have multiple kills already and I love having the extra power. You can also really feel the valvebody modification with the charger, at least a lot more than you could without it!

Any help would be appreciated!

The one bracket looks like it is shreading the belt. What pulley size do you have?

You shouldnt a drove it further if you knew the belt was slipping off. Might have saved it, but then again it was shredding.

Re: Need a little help from those with the supercharger!

All of your dash lights came on because your altinator was no longer changing your battery. No air, no power steering. You drove home on your battery. If you have the stock 3.6 pulley, it should be a K060710 GATES or 4060710 for Goodyear. Now, since you have to take EVERYTHING a part to install the new belt, you might as well go with a smaller pulley now. Either one of the smaller pulleys was installed incorrectly, the belt was not tight enough, or what ever. If you had it professionally installed, I would see if the belt travels evenly through out the other pulleys. If it doesn't, they screwed up.

As smokedford said, you have to pull out the SC in order to change the belt so if you need more power, now is the time.

Good luck.

So if the SC belt breaks, all you lose is the SC power, alternator, AC, power steering? You can still drive the car, right?

I've been concerned with this because if the SC failed, I'd like to be able to still drive the car to get where I'm going.

I had my belt come off on hwy 5 near Los Banos in my old Toyota. I was able to make it back to San Jose. (A little over 90 miles) It was late in the afternoon. Thank God I didn't need my lights or else I would have been screwed.

Thanks, this is good to know. I was thinking the car wouldn't operate without the SC running.
