I drove a 2002 max today and damn! It was so much faster than my 99. I really like the look of the 2001 aniversery edition but was wondering if that has the 255 hp or the 222. What is the difference between the 255 and 222? If I find a 2001 with the aniversery edition and average miles how much should I expect to pay?

2002=255 hp=buy thats one

 

2002 is the first year with 3.5 liter/255 hp engine. If you like the 01 tail lights better, you can buy them aftermarket and put them on the 02. Check Edmunds.com for a good estimate on car prices.

 

255hp in 2002 comes from a 3.5L VQ; the 20th anniversary got the 3.0L VQ bumped from 222hp to 227hp. Check www.kbb.com for pricing.

Yes you can, but the front lip will not fit on a 2k2 or 2k3 due to different fog lights....

 

you could get the AE, a more unique car (one of what has been reported as 8,500 built), with special perforated leather, accessories, yes a limited slip diff. (the AE was the only 2001 to have the VLSD) AND throw a supercharger or nitrous kit on it.

Crap, get a freaking life bubba. Some of us (as has been said by the original post) prefer the AE looks.

It does not have the over done grill, the supersize meatball logo, the factory Altezza ricer taillights, and is not one of many identical SE's running around the country. HP can always be achieved at a later time.

Why would you get an AE max with only 227 hp and no HID's? If you can afford to get a 2k2 go for it. Its much faster, might not look as good but has really good options. If you're buying an auto, don't bother getting a '01 because they are slower than 4th gen autos. I beat two '01 autos in my '99 auto easily.

Now I got a 2k2 autotragic and don't have to worry about anything
