New upgrades causing Starting problem!!!
I just added an OBX Racing Tech5 Filter style intake (supposed to be just like JWT POP charger) and a Magnoflow dynoed exhaust to my 1997 Maxima GXE. Now, I occasionally have trouble starting my car. It turns over just for a second and then dies. I'll eventually get it started and won't have any trouble for the next few days. Does this problem sound familiar to anyone? Any solutions?

I just added a magnaflow performance muffler and mandrel bent 2-1/2" pipe from the resonator back, the car purrs, I love it. I will be installing the JWT intake next week when it arrives and I can provide a control for you to see if mine does anything similar. I hope it's not related because then I won't be able to use the intake. No problems with the muffler install so far, it also looks nice. Even my wife (who occasionally drives my car) likes it.
I had a starter go out on me under warranty a few years ago.

JT try unhooking the sensor from the MAF
The one on the inner side of the MAF (facing the firewall). How do you like your intake??? Nice purrrrrrr yes?

Note to all, mine had the same problem, it was the starter and just got my starter replaced at 31,623 miles on a 99 GXE. Oh well, warranties are good!!

Re: JT try unhooking the sensor from the MAF
Thanks for all your suggestions, but I don't think it's the starter since it does actually turn over. The engine check light hasn't come on, yet so I'll have to see. My first guess was the spark plugs or the fuel injection system. Any opinions on this? I'm taking it in for a tune up sometime this week so I'll find out what's wrong for sure.
Alex, what's unhooking that sensor supposed to do? I had a friend do that before and it turned his engine check light on. With the intake and exhaust combo, my Max has a mean growl, thanks.
