I just cannot break into the 14's. And i'm getting mad!! need help

alright i've been to the track several times now and i'm disappointed.
Bone stock VE 5spd. should run 15.2

I never took my car to the track stock. my clutch went out before i could. So i had a ACT Street Clutch put in with Aluminum FLywheel and Short Throw shifter.
I went the track with just those and ran a best of 15.6 and i think i got down to 15.5 but not sure
I went alittle more and got a 15.4 with a 2.33 60' time. and i was trapping out at 89.5 mph.

Well i ended up putting on a UDP and advancing my timing. I lost .1 second with the UDP and Advanced Timing!!!! what the hell? the best i could get was a 15.38 with a 2.38 60'.

Then i installed a Y-pipe and Hi-flow Cat the day of a race, becuase that was when i got it that morning. So i went out and i ran a best of 15.2 with a 2.34 60' time. Another tenth of a second !! and i relize it takes time for the ECU to adjust.

So then yesterday i went back to the track with almost 1000 miles on the Y-pipe and Hi-flow cat.
can you guess waht i ran??? if you geussed a 15.1 you are correct !!!
i'm ****ed. a tenth of a second with a Y-pipe and Hiflow cat??
and that was with a 2.35 60' @ 90mph again 1mph faster with a Y-pipe and Hiflow cat?? whats going on?. Later in the night the temperature dropped to the low 60's. I ran the best 60' time i have ever run the last race of the night i got a 2.282 and i only ended up running a 15.237!!!! @ 90.81 mph

here are my best 2 runs ever.

R/T .774
60' 2.282
330 6.374
1/8 9.790
MPH 71.79
1000 12.745
1/4 15.237
MPH 90.81

my best run ever.

R/T .819
60' 2.353
330 6.363
1/8 9.759
MPH 72.00
1000 12.703
1/4 15.194
MPH 90.24

I'm totally lost. I know i'm not the best shifter in the world. and i'm not the best at launching but i still don't think i'm doing bad. I SHOULD be in the 14's by now. i'm starting to suspect that something is wrong with my car. Maybe my injectors or Knock sensor?
it has new plugs and fuel filter. I haven't put the new PCV valve on yet. any ideas? cause i'm fresh out. Thanks

yeah man, i was also disapointed with mine after modding. i ran a 15.2 then after all my mods, i only ran a 14.8 the thing is i ran it in 90 degree heat with about 80% relative humidity. there's a lot involved man. don't worry, you'll get it lol. btw, where are you located? altitude has an affect. . .

The track is just under 3000 ft. above sea level.
Atleast that is what someone at the track told me

Do you have an aftermarket intake? Maybe letting your engine gulp air more effectivley will push you into the 14's. You could also try the JWT ECU. I've never raced so I can't comment on your racing style. I know Czar had amazing runs with his VE 5-speed (even before the turbo), so maybe he could offer advice.

No i don't have any form of Intake. I should be in the 14's without it though, that's whats driving me nuts.

yeah Czar ran a 14.8 with just a JWT Pop CHarger i believe.
But he also races at right around sea level.

And he actually ran slower with his turbo.

Intake is a key mod. The rest of your mods will work more effectively with one. Also keep in mind that you're at 3000 ft, which is quite high. I bet if you use some of those NHRA altitude correction factors you're already in the 14's when corrected to sea-level.

15.1 with what you've got and where you are is pretty darn good if you ask me

Well i am proud
seeing as how i beat a 5spd Integra GSR with Intake Exhaust, and NOS.

Actually there are only a couple cars out there that are faster than me

Automatic Twin Turbo supra with Intake Exhaust, and running 17lbs of boost. He only runs 13.8

Civic Hatchback with Turbo and NOS built for draggin that runs 11.2

VW Gti Gulf with intercooler and NOS running 11.9

2 Civic hatchbacks with B18's intake and exhaust that run 14.4 to 14.8

Other than that, I'm the fastest
Everyone asks me what i've done to my car or if i've swapped the engines. They're always like "my buddy has that body style maxima and i smoke him everytime easy"
Then i fill them in on some maxima history.

Very odd, i ran 15.37 @89mph bone stock with 185 wide tires!!! 2.25 60's.
After that, it was consistent 15.41-45 with 89-90mph and mid 2.2 60's.

Since then clutch went as well, so lightened up the stock FW and went with just a CF1 clutch. Much better grip than what i had!!

went back with a K&N drop in filter and propped airbox and the proper size tire, 205 60 15 yokohama a520, and i ran 15.5 consitent!!! but my 60's were 2.4. (stickier tire and wider, and slower 60's!!) That ****ed me off.

Since then, the car began to run like ****, i had no bottom end power at all. I even passed smog tests, i changed o2, new plugs, cleaned the injectors, new stock y pipe( i didnt even think about the upgrade Y) and went 2.25 exhaust with hiflow cat, no res, and straight thru muffler. Went back to the track, ran 15.6!!! WTF.

make a long story short, i had the ecu scanned several times, and nothing popped up, my buddy checked the ecu by hand , pin to pin for outputs, it turned out the VTC output wasnt grounding the VTC's AT ALL. So my timing was never advancing. swapped the ecu, and its like nite and day.
Ive also done my own CAI, and the wheels break loose in first, and second gear leaves a nice long two wheel patch on the pavement. I have yet to go back to the track this year.

I have two broken engine mounts to fix then i shall report back. Im hoping for just 15.0 with 92mph. I get that , im more than happy for my overweight Maxima.

That sir is the answer. I looked up the corrections for elevation here http://www.prestage.com/carmath/NHRA...n_Factors.asp. It shows that at sea level your ET/trap would be 14.6 @ 93-94mph. In effect your car is right were it should be. Now all you have to do is make the drive to Englishtown in NJ or Houston raceway park in Houston, TX and run some decent ETs .

Just wait to race on a cold day with an area of high pressure moving in. Standard air pressure is 29.92, and for each .1" pressure change it's like moving up or down 100 feet in elevation. Therefore, a pressure of 30.42 would mean that the pressure is higher, therefore your car would react as if you were at an elevation 500 feet lower. Check the weather channel for your pressure. Best bet days are cold, humid, high pressure and no headwind!

that's just it
our track has a really bad headwind problem.
It wasn't real bad Friday night. But we did get some 40mph gusts at one point but died down and stayed around 5-10mph.
I dunno
it sucks cause i want to have a fast car.
But i can't when i'm way above everyone else in the org as far as tracks go
except probably Nigel.
SAE Corrected just isn't very legit.

I think i'm going to go get my car dyno'd this week to see if i'm missing some HP, cause 90mph is slow !
especially for a VE with the mods i have.

? Where did you get a UDP for the ve30de. I have been looking for one and all I have found are UDP's for vg30de's.

There are three codes that can be stored by the ECM without showing a CEL. One would probably keep you shut down, one might cut your power down, and the other would.

I bet a dollar on your knock sensor. I'm having the same problem now.
