235/40/18 vs 245/40/18

I recently purchased a set of 18X8"s for my 97 Max SE, at Discount Tire they suggested the 235's. I have read that the 245's will fit. I also have H&R's and KYB/AGX's. Which size would be optimal for performance, mpg, ride quality??? I am a big fan of the largest footprint possible, at the same time I don't want to rub or be too bulky... Thanks

You shouldn't rub with 245s.... Also 245s look best for an 8" wide rim. I have 235s and they seem to curve inwards if you look at em closely.

I had 245 on my x8 rim, just go to my home page #2 and you will seel it. My current set up is Intrax and 18x8.5 on 245/40 18!!If your keeping the car for the long run get 245's. You should go off on discount tire direct they are the ones that sold my 2nd set of 245 to me!!

245 will look to big on a 8. I had 245 on my 8.5 and they looked a little to bubbly.
