Intake and Gas Mileage

Hey guys, I wanted to know if getting an intake (like a Weapon-R) would decrease my gas mileage? What about a y-pipe? If so, how much does it affect fuel consumption? Let me know, thanks!

Re: Intake and Gas Mileage

the intake affected mine, because i stomp it all the time, just to hear it roar, therefore decreasing gas mileage about 3-4 mpg

Re: Intake and Gas Mileage

i have the cattman y-pipe and even though I've been stomping on it at every light I am still getting normal gas mileage, so i suppose I would be getting better than stock fuel economy if i drove normally.

intake and y-pipe will increase the gas mileage and bad for the transmission!

because you gonna floor it all the time

:o)

I have an SC and I get low 20s. 22/23. That's mixed city and hwy and includes a little 'fun' every now and then.

P.s. No offense Shawn but you don't have to be in the picture with your car in the sig.

well if you romp on your car to just hear the ROAR!!! then yes you will lower your gas milage.

JWT pop and Y pipe

I have both a pop charger and a y pipe. You will get about the same mileage if you do normal driving. But if you tend to be heavy footed like me then prepare to buy alot of gas. The pop & y free up the breathing in your engine so you can gain some more HP and with the gaining of that HP you waste more gas. I highly reccomend both the pop and the y. My .02

Since the y-pipe is less restrictive of exhaust (& you get another 15-18 hp @wheels), there should be less effort for the Max to reach a certain speed than with oem y in place. Shouldn't gas consumption go down (assuming exact same driving style)?

I know, in reality, once the POP goes on, WOT happens. When I get my y-pipe, WOT will probably happen more often.
