I think autos get worse milage. I too have an auto and I have trouble hitting 300/tank. I also have a popcharger so maybe that affects my milage.

I drive 50% in the city and 50% on the highway. No pop chargers or anything. I drive pretty aggressively and have an auto, but I only get 275-300 per tank. Average 19-20. It totally sucks. So, it sounds like you aren't the only one.

Man I don't know what U guys are doing. I get 370+ ON every tank at 14-15gallons on fillup. I had a 96GLE and a 95SE Auto B4 and they both gave around 400 a tank. Something in the air where U guys live I think

I have an auto and drive about 65 highway miles every day at 75mph (give or take depending on traffic). I refill at 400 miles and usually have to put in 16 galons (of 93). I put in an octane booster a couple of times and that gave me even better milage. (if I use the AC in the summer my milage goes down)

Where are you at?

I have noticed that the gas I buy in Nevada always gets me further than here in the bay area. I think it is all the anti smog additives they put in. Seems pretty smart huh? not. makes us use more gas, not less.

Oh no.. not gas mileage again... There are at least 2 HUGE threads with info out there.. (FYI)

And yes, manuals should "theoretically" be getting better mileage than auto's, but not by a 100 Miles per tank!!!

20 mpg is not all that unreasonable, depending on your specific driving conditions..

I also get around 20 mpg in mixed driving. If you live in an area where it is now cold, keep in mind that they reformulate gasoline for the winter. The reformulated gas makes your mileage take a hit.

200 miles per tank

for city driving only. i estimate that i should get about 300-350 miles per tank driving strictly highway (hopefully i'll be able to test this this weekend, if not, oh well).

guys, i am talking about 1/4 tank left. i am talking maybe about 4.5 gallons left in the tank. i am not driving with less than 5 gallons left in the tank.

my pops 8-banger gets over 500 miles to the tank. this car is okay on fuel consumption, but definatly not the best i've seen!

I get about 18 in 100% city driving. When I get on the road it jumps to 26.

Very bad milege.

I get about 220-250 miles per tank. If it wasnt for the expensive gas($30 per week), i wouldnt complain. IN the morning i drive 30 miles on highway without traffic,on my way home theres usually traffic. Something they put in the gas here in NYC, my other car a v6 camry started getting like 250 miles on tank. A year ago, it was getting like 350-400. And the sparkplugs, water pump, tires, timing belt all are new on that car, so there must be something in the gas.

I also live in the Nyc/NJ area. I drive 50% highway and 50% city. No matter what I do I only get 270-300 miles per fillup. I am so disappointed about this. 30 miles to work and another 30 back home. I normally drive with a real heavy foot but I have tried driving between the 60-65 mph just to experiment how many miles I would get. Trust me, this was big time tortue for me. I wished that my windows were tinted at the time because people out here look at you like an idiot driving that slow. Well after driving a full tank's worth of gas within speed limit parameter's, I still was only able to manage 300 miles! Sup with this?? How can they claim 28 mpg highway?!? At least I'm not alone.

ha, you'd be suprised that this battle tank my father drives, only has a 14 gallon gas tank. 5.0 Liter, pushrod 8-cylinder, that smokes a max in fuel consumption.

you know, i wouldn't complain if i got about 300 miles to the tank in the city with 400-450 on the highway, but this vehicle comes well below what i thought the engine would consume!

oh well, the power in this car kicks ****!

Personally, I didn't buy the Maxima because of fuel efficiency... If I cared, I woulda bought a moped!!!

Besides, just be glad that we don't live in Europe... Gas here is cheap!!!

mine's gotten a lot better

I was the first to laugh at the commercial -- l.a. to phoenix on one tank... but at 18k miles on my car, it runs much better and has much better mileage.

When I mostly just drive to work (6 minutes) and short trips near the house, I get about 230 before the light comes on. But on my last trip to SD (2 hour trip).. all freeway, I got about 100 miles per quarter tank this time... so i should have gotten close to 400 miles on that tank. Next time I go, I'll fill up in L.A. before leaving so I can see what I get on the whole tank, round trip.

(on previous trips to SD with less miles on the car, I'd still do only about 300 per tank).

Here in Hawaii I guess we don't have highway (dealers claim hwy driving is over 50+miles and most places in hawaii is about 25miles at most) and my gass milage is between 20-22 at best. very sad. esp after seing those 28mpg commercials.

weird, but I get exacty what they claim. 28mpg strictly highway, i could probably do better if i drove at a normal speed and less agressivly but hey you only live once.

I never drive 100% city but back and forth to work i get 23-24mpg, my drive is 5mi city then 10mi highway then 2 miles city and reversed for the drive home. My morning commute has me visiting close to the century mark on almost a daily basis, so in case you were wondering no i don't drive like a grandma.

I get 24 in the suburbs, 30 on trips at 80 with A/C. Stick SE.

I'm averaging approximately 280 miles/tank on my 2k1 SE with 1600 miles. I'm hoping the fuel efficiency increases as the car "breaks in".

I am sitting on top of 300 miles now at little less than 1/4 of a tank. I usually get about 25 mpg....but on this tank full my car has sat idleing for at least on HOUR!! We got hit hard last week with ice/snow and had to let the car warm up /melt ice before leaving work!

If you drive your Max hard all the time, you will get hit hard in the wallet every time you fill up!
