New 2 Board

Hi All,

First time on your board so I thought I would say howdy.....
I just picked up a 1984 Maxima so I guess this is the place
to hang out for good info...

Could anyone drop me some links to good resources for used parts for this car? Right now, I need the central armrest section. It would be the part with the little glovebox.

Also would like to know some appearance upgrades for the max. I sort of want to follow a conservative look, kinda like MB's. Any ideas would be appreciated - especially parts links.

Cheers

Hey Brendan,
I picked up this '84 for my wife as a daily.
I think I got a good deal.
Its a beige colored straight 6 and its loaded.
AC
Sunroof
power locks / windows / antenna / trunk
tinted glass
Vinyl, leather look interior, no rips anywhere
lumbar supports
very, very clean car.

1 owner car with 74,000 miles (all receipts kept)
California car so no rust anywhere and no sun damage
to the paint so it must have been garage kept.

What it needs:
The center console with the small glove box is broken.
Its actually smashed and I have no idea why.
I need to find a replacement for that.
Car is running a little rough. Still need to go through
the entire motor so I am sure I will figure that out.
Bought the factory manual on ebay for 3.00 + shipping.
Tape deck not working. Probably swap it for a CD player
anyway.
Front end makes some rattles and stuff so I need to go through
that as well.

I wrench my own cars and as you can see by my sig. I'm a busy guy.

Any help on finding that center console would be a big help

Glad to be here with the rest of you

WEll hey while we're at it, Im pretty new too. I've posted once or twice now, but to me thats still pretty new. I just got my Maxima about 2 weeks ago, its an 85 SE, in fairly good condition. It has a lot of dimples in it due to massive hail in the area, but that helped me get it at a really cheap price. I plan on takin some pictures of it as soon as I manage to get a digital camera (within the next week or two), so I'll let everybody see it then. I was also wondering about exterior mods, like body kits, but havent really been able to find much for the 2nd gen on the web anywhere. If anybody could send some links this way for them, I'd appreciate it.

The car I have is pretty rough and has high miles. (180K) I'm hoping to find another to use as a parts car. My car runs good though, and it has all the same options but with cloth seats.

I have seen a body kit for the 2nd gernation but not for the 1st. I'm planning on doing something with the center grill piece on my car and then painting the whole car. I also took out the plastic crash obsorbers underneath the front bumper to shorten it a little. I might do the same with the rear.

I put some chrome rims on my car too, but they have zero offset which is too wide. I thought since it was RWD that it would be fine, but the tires are now under the edge of the fenders. They will rub when the suspension travels up. I might have to roll the fender lips in or something. They dont' stick out so far that it looks stupid. It actually looks good.
