The other night, my friend with a 3.4 liter camaro, the one with 160hp and an auto raced me. All he has is a drop in k & N and a flowmaster fake duel muffler. I raced him with my auto stock max. Off the line, he beat me, and i didnt pass him till like 80. How is this possible? Could his mods really make such a difference?

 

what condition is your car in? you shoulda been all over that

 

My car is in great condition. 80K miles on it. But i noticed that my low end power is kind of weak, what could cause this. Is there anyhing that might have to be repaired?

You should have been about 2-3 cars ahead of him by 80...somethings not right. I raced by friends 3.8 camaro and i put down a nice beating

 

i whooped a 96 camaro 5spd i think it was a 3.8 but he had a k and n and he thought he would whoop me in my 95 stock max 5spd with 120000 miles on it i whooped him he lost by a good 10 car lengths by 80 mph from a stoplight they are extremely slow, best part about it was he had the z28 stickers on the side with doul exaust too so it looked like a pimped out z28, i made the max look pretty damn good for all who saw the race

 

10 car lengths by 80? OK I'm sorry but he was not racing you, and if he did, he quit- early

seriosly it was at least 5 lengths, we were racing hes my buddy and he though what the heck your car "just took off" im not exagerating by much, it wasnt even close

 

wow, i hear the new v6 camaro birds are pretty quick. quick as in mid 15's in a stick....

 

Yeah, the faster ones do 0-60 in 5.5 stock.

 

i hope your referring to a Z28, i think a boosted V6 camaro would have trouble with those 0-60 times. back to topic: i u may want to get a tune up or somthing, you should have pulled off the line and continued to walk him. and no k&n drop in with fake duals with give like 8hp if hes lucky so it doesnt make a big difference. get ur care checked out but for that low end problem look into a cold air intake, i suggest place racing

 

Those fake duals add like 80hp!! Those things flow air at mad psi!! My friend had fake dulies and did tons of burnouts with smoke and stuff and he was doing all sorts of silly donuts and loop de loops... Pretty crazy stuff man!



But seriously, I wouldn't even consider a filter and "fake" exhausts as mods. How many miles are on your max and did you happen to have the A/C + overdrive on when racing? Any 3rd gen and up maxima should blast by any v-6 camaro. Camaro= ~3300lbs, 160hp. Max= ~3000lbs, 190hp. Maybe she needs a tune up as well. You definately know something isn't completely right when you get beat by a car that is heavier with less hp.

 

i know a broken knock sensor will make you lose... like me. I was so embarassed...
