Ok, dealer says here comes the wind deflectors. What should I do???

Took the 2k2 SE for service the other day. I asked them to try and buff out the ugly mark left by my defective sunroof wind deflector (I ordered a new one under warranty months ago). They said to me that would do more harm than good and that they are expecting the new wind delfectors "hopefully" in October??? (I also read that from another .org member.)

SO my question is, should I try and take my car to a detailer and have them try to buff out the mark (possibly causing more damage) OR do I just sit back and wait for the new wind deflector so I can cover up the existing paint damage with the new one???

They may be just saying that it will cause more damage because they don't want to fix it. I think you should get a second opinion from a none Nissan source.

those lines in the clear will most likely not come out. I put mine back on, mostly because I like it better at highway speed with sunroof open.

But now, I try to remove it periodically (6 months or more) and make sure nothing collects under the seal. That way its at least not constantly sanding on the paint with every vibration.

Agreed...

No luck here on getting them out...Scratch X, and other products took care of some of the finer lines but the majority of it is well into the clear coat...

if you want the wind deflector on then just wax and put it on and don't worry about it. I agree with the idea of taking it off a few time/year to clean it out well. If you've never done it, removing it takes about 5 minutes (if that).

Coming in next month, really? I just checked with my dealer yesterday, and he didn't give me a date...so I hope you're right.

My dealer said "hopefully" October, which could mean anything. Like I said I did read that from another org member a little whiole back so its possible. (My dealer said he had approx 150 on back order!).

I apologize for not getting the name, but I called Nissan North America, and they said the wind deflectors would be shipping out this week.

They've changed vendors.

They hope to have all of the defective wind deflectors replaced by November.

The parts dept. at the dealer where I bought told me they had received similar information.

I hope so.

I'm a bit worried about the discoloration under the existing one. I hope the replacement has the same 'footprint' or Nissan will be repainting my roof. I can be very stubborn.
