well it's offical. modding cars SUCKS!
tell me what the point is of spending 211 dollars on an Intake to actually be SLOWER!
as you can tell i went to the track tonight. Before i was frustrated because i couldn't break into the 14's. my best timeslip so far went like this.

R/T .819
60' 2.353
330 6.363
1/8 9.759
MPH 72.00
1000 12.703
1/4 15.194
MPH 90.24

Was so frustrated that i wasn't into the 14's. But i learned our track was at 2700' above sea level and I delt with it. And everyone told me to get an Intake and i'll be into the 14's for sure. So i bought the PR CAI and installed with with problems but got all the bugs out. Went to the track tonight and got 3 runs. My worst was a 15.4 with a bad launch and a 2.5 60' time.

but my last run of the night goes like this.

R/T .663
60' 2.306
330 6.412
1/8 9.815
MPH 72.01
1000 12.766
1/4 15.251
MPH 90.88

that was the last run for me the temperature was about 72 degrees with about a 5mph head wind.

now the FIRST run of the day i had just gotten there and been there maybe 15 minutes

.813
2.348
6.430
9.811
72.52
12.736
15.201
91.72

I jsut don't get it. I had a better launch but it just seems to fall flat on it's face and it had sat for about an hour between runs. But my first run while the car was still hot was my fastest. I'm damn near tempted to put my stock intake on. I'm going to convert it back to Hybrid and see if it is still killing my Lowend like it did lasttime we think we had a vaccumm leak. And run it at the track next time setup for Hybrid, and i may change it back to CAI at the track if it's worse. This really kills the mod bug badly when you spend money and you actually DON"T get faster.
That seems to happen to me ALOT!

You got your VE engine running well? All the sensors working? Might try unplugging the battery overnight to reset your ECU. The ECU will take some time in readjusting the air/fuel ratio with a new mod like intake or exhaust.

I've seen the dynos of the CAI on VQs and they have more power loss above 5500rpm than a SI or hybrid intake does. Now on a VG the power is gained right in the meat of the powerband so its a plus. Convert it to hybrid and see how it runs.

My engine is running very well. I haven't checked the ECU for codes but the car is in damn near perfect condition.
We had the battery out while we put the intake in so the ECU would reset. and i've put well over 300 miles on it before i went out to the track.

I had it setup for Hybrid the first night i got it cause we had problems with the lower tube. ANd the Highend was amazing, but i was bogging and it just completly killed my lowend. So we went back and took it all out and redid it and got the lower pipe in and my lowend was back like a champ but i noticed it didn't pull as hard up top. Well lastnight after we left the track it was cold as hell and my car was pulling like a maniac up top.
It's like Jekyl and Hyde now. I hate it. I was gunna talk to my buddy who works there try to run after everybody had left but the jets were there and as soon as they were done they went out and immedietly started scraping up the melted rubber.

Check the connector on the MAFS. It turns out that the connector is a little laim inside, But what I also just found is that not only is the connector laim, but when the connector is pushed on, the metal part inside the connector gets pushed back, so the contact is even worse. What I just did was totally removed the connector and bought some really small push terminals from radio shack. I wanna see also if my fuel economy improves.

So what may have happened to you was when you removed the connector to install the CAI, and then reinstalled the MAFS connector, it may not be making good contact inside.

Sith--

Have you tried removing your air filter on the stock set-up to see what times you get?

well i went out to my buddies shop and we swapped it over to Hybrid.
results?
well this morning while it was still a CAI i ran a test on it. From a dead stop i launched and went to a speed limit sign and reached 55mph.
After we switched it out.
Went to the same spot. from a dead stop and launched.
Spun my tires all the way across the intersection and reached 60mph a few feet from the sign.
So it's definetly faster. I know it's not the most accurate test but the car pulls. hard.
i will give the Hybrid setup the fact that it pulls like crazy.. However my lowend did suffer. below 3k rpm's it just doesn't want to climb in rpm's or speed. but once it hits it hits hard. We'll see how it does at the track on Sunday.
