the guy probably wants some performence info
the EVO will rip the max's buttt...that thing does like 4.8 0-60
its AWD, lighter
anyways....its comparing apples to oranges...the only thing in common that they have is the xenon and that they're both from japan

I agree there is no comparison to the cars. The Evo will kick you a$$ and take the names of the three poeple in front of you. Who cares about Xenon! The Max is a luxurious, big freaking car compared to the Evo. The Evo is built for one thing: speed (on AND Off the road).

My thought is what thoughts are you asking for? if it is about performance, why are you asking? The evo will destroy a max. It's almost like asking what would win a max or a Toyota Prius
It depends on how watered-down the US-version of the Evo will be. We already know that it will have 250HP (vs 276+ in the Japanese model). Will it weigh as little as the 3076 like the Japanese model? I doubt it (emissions equipment). It will still be AWD, though.
Worst part is, it's still a Mitsubishi.
It will be fun to drive on a track or trail, but for city driving and daily driving, the Maxima is a better choice.

actually it will be a Evolution VIII for 2004 available early 2003.
I understand the EVO VIII will have a new direct fuel setup that will deliver even more power than the EVO7. I think if you gut the re-plumb the exhaust and get blow-off valve - it could match Jap. Specs..
I would agree the Max will probably be a better "town car", however I think Mitsu is damping the shocks and springs a little softer for the American market.
I like my 2000 max Gxe, but I dont love it like my 91 SE-R. I want something in between.
