V1 Pulley Change vs. V2

V1 Pulley Change vs. V2
I read on the board that installing another pulley on a V2 was much harder then a V1, why/how is this.
I have a V1 and am going to attempt to install a new pulley this weekend with a mechanic friend.
Is there any documentation or how2's on how to do it, he's a mechanic and feels confident but he said documentation would help a lot.
