Bose speaker blown amp?

I have what I assume is a blown amp on the rear drivers side speaker of my 92 Se.Will a 95 or 96 speaker from a gxe fit mine? Will the hookups match? Will a passenger side speaker fit and will the hookups match? Can I replace just the amp easily or is it better just to replace the whole thing? Thanks

Re: Bose speaker blown amp?

id go with aftermarket speakers if i were you. cheaper, more reliable, and better quality. if you got bose you got 6x9's in the back. if that other car doesnt have bose they will not fit.

I blew my right back speaker and have gotten new after market speakers. If you want them to sound like the bose or better, you would also need to buy an amp for them.

I am currently getting component speakers up front and an amp to power all of my speaker. I had originally got 6x9 for the back and 4x6 in front. Still keepin my 6x9.

Can't wait to hear the "boom from my amplifias."

BOSE SYSTEM

I do not think a 95 or 96 speaker would work in a 92. I do not think you can swap front and rear speakers either. If you are near Tampa FL there is a store that fixes BOSE speakers on Maximas. Most of time problem is AMP needs overhaul. Owner has treated me very well and helped me fix my system a few times. Just had front door speaker amp fixed this week for $65+tax but I had to take speaker out and put back in myself becasue he does not have installer. Its just a tiny place in a bad part of town. The store name is STREET SOUND INC. in Tampa FL and you can get phone number address and map by doing a yellow page search from MSN or any search engine. You can not (as far as I know) get just the AMP from Nissan you have to buy the whole speaker and I think they are over $200 each. Try calling STEET SOUND and see if you can send him the speaker, he can fix it. Good Luck, Josh

I swapped AMP from a rear speaker of a 90 MAX SE and put it in my 93 MAX SE rear speaker with blown AMP and it worked OK. You can get amps out of rear speaker without even taking the speaker out if you crawl in the trunk. I would GUESS that any rear speaker from 3rd gen MAX will work but not sure about 4th Gen Max speakers/amp in a 3rd gen. I do not know if the 95/96 ones will work in a 92 or 93. Josh

Aftermarket

Id just get some aftermarket speakers. Those BOSE speakers are hell. They have there own seperate amps and they are just a pain. Get some Sony XPlods or something, anything is better than those...

Where are the amps located? Your message says that the rear amps are in or next to the speakers. A guess that the front amps are in the door with the speakers? My amps need to me fixed. I'm getting that awful high pitched squeal from the drivers side speaker. Thanks for the help.

On Rear speakers AMPS are attached to speaker on back side of speaker in trunk and you can get them out without taking out the whole speaker assembly by crawling inside the trunk and taking them out of the back of the speaker. Front speakers are different. First you must take door apart then pull out the speaker assembly and the speaker and amp are inside that front speaker/AMP assembly. I have removed one from the front but never disassembled the front speaker/AMP assembly. I just took the whole thing to get fixed at STREET SOUND in Tampa for $65. Hope that helps, Josh 93 MAX SE in Tampa.

Yeah, you can just replace the amp. I'm not too sure, but I think I still have the amps from MY rear speakers lying around in my garage if you want 'em. I can work the same deal that you've got going with the guy that wants to sell you the 95/96 ones, except I'll only charge $12.50 each shipped. Let me know and I'll take a look in my garage in the morning.

I'd just get it new. But get it from either Courtesy Nissan or Jerry Rome Nissan. Both places give us .org members up to a 30% discount. I went and priced one out last year locally and they wanted close to $100 for one regulator. So, I bought mine from Courtesy for a little under $60 shipped.

Thanks man, I appreciate the response. Its my front ones that are messed up. Did you take the car to get the amp repaired or just the speaker/amp unit seperate from the car. I just want to know if I should do the labor or not. Just trying to save some money.
Thanks
Chris

I took the front speaker / AMP unit out of the door myself and had it repaired for $65 at STREET SOUND in Tampa. They charge $125 if they have to take the speaker out fix it and put it back in so yes you will save some money if you take it out yourself. I guess you already know that each speaker has its own amp and the amp is usually what goes bad. I do not know if the amps in the front speakers are the same as the amps in rear speakers.
