Rear Brakes

I am trying to put rear brake pads on my 92 SE.How do you get the piston to retract so that the new pads will fit?On all the brakes i've put on before I simply used a "C" clamp to push it back but these won't go in.Is their a secret to the rear maxima brakes that I don't know about? Thanks

yes there is and it's been posted MANY times before, please try a search next time

you have to twist it clockwise. There are special tools to use for this or just use needle-nose pliers but be careful not to damage the boot

Thanks for the information.I did the brakes with no problem this morning except for one thing. You turn the piston clockwise instead of counterclockwise.I turned the first one counterclockwise until it fell out so I had to bleed the brakes.I used a small about of brake fluid to lubricate the piston and boot and i just used plain channel locks to turn it.Thanks again for the info. it saved me a big headache.

By the way I did a search and thats how I found out about using brake fluid to lubricate the boot and piston. The reason I didn't do one the first time is because as many times as I have used maxima.org i didn't know about the search until you pointed it out.I'll know next time i have a problem.
