Ken has been very good with prices and customer service is unequaled, but I just bought a UDP from Stillen for $180 and it cost $15 or less they said for shipping.

If they won't do this, they have horrible business ethics. I just told them the website that had it for $180 and they matched it without thinking twice. Of course they tried to rip me off on the belts that I paid $30 at a local store. They wanted $50. Thanks Ken for all of the deals that you give us. I think I speak for everyone when I say it's very appreciated.

Maybe this will help, keep in mind i figured $15.00 of those totals for shipping which brings down the part price.

be back with more info soon.

Isn't it $192 on the Stillen website? How did you get it for $180?

What are underdrive pulleys? how much horsepower (if any) does it give you? Oh and Ken, since you know I'm local, how much would installation be from your mechanics be? Thanks

An underdrive pulley is a pulley of different size than factory which is designed to lower the speed of the accessory that it drives. By reducing the size of the crank pulley all the driven accessories turn slower. By increasing the size of the accessory, driven pulleys, you also reduce the speed but of only that accessory. The alternator pulley is an example of having to be made larger to turn slower.

The driven accessories work much like a fan works. If you increase their speed it takes more hp to turn. Conversely, by decreasing the speed less hp is required. You are freeing up hp you already have by reducing the drag or hp required to turn the accessories.

Some underdrive pulley sets free up 10-15 hp. On our Maxima's we don't drive a water pump or smog pump so there is not as much gain to be had. I got .15-.20 et improvement with a three pulley underdrive system on a Mustang I previouly owned. I would expect no more than about .05-.1, or about 5 hp, on our Maxima's with just a crank pulley. Not a lot of gain but you will also get a little better fuel economy and longer lasting accessories. Sure is good insurance to protect that alternator at 6000+ rpm that our engines turn.

An overdrive crank pulley would be larger than factory. An overdrive alternator pulley would be smaller than factory. People often us overdrive alternator pulleys in conjunction with an underdrive crank pulley to increase the speed of the alternator back up somewhat and improve charging at idle. You would lose some of the benefits of the underdrive. Some overdrive crank pulleys are available when a supercharge is driven by the crank and more boost is required.

I would highly recommend an underdrive pulley. It' a little trick that has been around for years and is tried and proven.

Ken, go ahead and mail my check to my house! LOL!

Which website was that if you don't mind me asking?

Although if I decide to go with RVM that wouldn't matter! hehe... unless Stillen really wants to beat $8o which is unlikely!

I think it was SouthwestAutoworks.com. Don't buy the belts from Stillen, buy them from a local store. Ken from JRNissan is an outstanding person and his customer service is next to none. Sometimes it's worth the extra money to get the customer service one expects when spending this amount of money. I'm not stating that Stillens customer service is bad, it was actually exceptional, but Ken is the best!

Actually I find that some of the Stillen sales reps are quite pushy and rude. I was doing research on the RSB and I was contemplating between 3 manufacturers. I called Stillen for some technical info. and the guy was like, "we got only 1 more left" and I said "okay I'll get back to you guys on that" and he got snotty with me and said "Well man, do you want it or what? What do you have to think about?"

Not at all a good first contact experience with Stillen.
