5spd remote starter (again)
5spd remote starter questions...more specific this time though.
1. How hard is a remote starter to put in a 5 spd? Is the only difference in installation the switch under the clutch? and is it hard to DIY.
2. Does it get wired into the alarm? I have a stock alarm and i don't even know if it has a start kill, but i'm wondering if a remote starter would work with the stock alarm

remote starter
Watched a 5spd car with a remote starter drive itself through a garage door once. Think it was an Eclipse. Guy bought the car (at the auction I work for), left it in 1st gear and was fiddling around with the remote on the key chain about 20 ft away - guess he thought it was an alarm or something. Good thing nobody was standing in the way.
My question to people who have/want remote starter is a big "WHY?". What is the point really. Just so you can start it and have it warm up while you sit inside? Seems like an expense one could live without. One would think you could just go out, start your car, and then go back inside to take a dump or whatever you were gonna do while your car warmed up. Is their something I am missing here? Is there some very practical application of this remote starter thing that I have overlooked?
I have a remote start with a 5-speed. I got a switch wired for the remote start so that if someone else drives my car, I can turn it off in case that person accidentally remote starts it with it in gear. When I park my car, I always leave it in neutral and use the parking brake. If you decide to put a remote start on a 5-speed be very careful on putting it in neutral when you park asnd who you let use your car because you don't want the car to jump forward and hurt someone. I say install it on your car at your own risk...it's cool but dangerous on a 5-speed. A lot of the shops I went to turned the job down because of liability in case someone does get hurt. hope this helps
