Just wondering, what sort of times will a completely stock y2k Maxima SE with an auto tranny pull?

My brother has the Maxima, I have an Audi. This past August he ran a 15.97 at the strip one night. He has a 'Pop Charger' intake. 3 weeks ago I ran a 16.17 with an ok launch. I can't let my brother have a faster car than I do, can I?

With a chip I will pick up ~50HP and ~100ft/lbs on pump gas. On race gas, it will drop a full second from my ET.

chip is the last thing you should be doing with all your mods! i wish i could aford one right now! if i had the kind of money to blow on a chip then i would aggree with JAMSAM to get the y pipe, intake and exhaust...all other things can wait if you want speed!!! honestly thats my opinion...but your money you nice a$$ maxima~!!! i bet it real tight??? got any pics???? oh yeah....got a site for that chip that gives so 50 hp!!! thats really hott!!!! WISH I WAS IN YOUR SHOES!!!

later!

The chip I was referring to isn't for a Maxima, it's for an Audi. That's the beauty of grossly de-tuned factory turbo motors - more power is easy to make.

Would a Y-pipe give a big enough gain to show up on a butt dyno?

well a y pipe will make a noticible difference...not major...but it def. does give you some power with the right set-up...

On a Maxima it'd be BS. But not on cars with factory turbo's (i.e. VW 1.8T, 2.7T, Volvo, etc). Sometimes the "chip" packages include other things though. So to get 50HP/100TQ gains you might actually be modding the intake, exhaust, and other stuff...

For 50HP and 100tq on a 1.8T, all that is needed is a chip. The chip adjusts the boost and fuel maps. Running race gas with a race program (you can change which program by pushing a button on the cruise control stalk) the gains are even larger.

My Bad

I was looking at getting an Audi A4. I didn't realize that these engines weren't using up that much of their potential. I guess I made the statement based on Max Stats.

15.2-15.8 @ 88-92 depends on the track, weather, and driver.

its all in the 60' time. If the driver doesn't know WTF he/she is doing they get 2.6-2.7 60's. If you know what your doin you get 2.1-2.2 60's

I understand that, but I was looking for specifics. I have never been out to the track yet, but plan on going and want some pointers on how to "better" drive my auto car. Like do I need to torque brake? And to what RPM?

I would try to stall it at 1500 and then let go on the third yellow. If you spin way to much you will have to adjust and feather the throttle until you gain full traction. If you are hooking good the stall the car as high as you can which should be aroun 2300rpm's. GL at the track and let me know how you do.
