Sorry, but this thread has very little to do with my maxima, rather, my celica. My fiance drives it to work everyday, and yestarday, several cars in her parking lot were egged; of course, my celica was one of them. I took it to one of the high-pressure, do-it-yourself, car washes, and was able to get most of everything off. There are still some streaks running down the side that i can't seem to get off. Does anyone recommend any kind of compound that won't hurt the paint, but will remove everything? I'm pretty ****ed off about this, as I paid a lot of money for the car, and the paint job on it is/was in perfect condition. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

 

Try washing by hand first. If that doesn't work, try Meguires Quik Detailer. If that doesn't work, try clay bar.

possibly bug and tar remover? gets all other crap off so i'd assume it would work in this case...i'm sure tons of people on here have been egged so maybe they'll know exactly what to use, but i'd try that. goodluck and sorry to hear that happened.

 

I would recommend using rubbing compound. It always helps take out marks on my car that can't be removed from hand washing.

the day after halloween, a woman came into the shop i work at (an auto parts store) and bought rubbing compound. Severla hours later, she came back in and said that the compound had given her a problem. One of the guys i work with went outseide to see what had happened. Appaerently, her car was egged, and rather then wash it off, she put the compound on it and tried buffing it off. instead, she took the paint off.

 

any kinda cleaner should do it. just get it all off as soon as ya can. hopefully it didnt damage the paint at all

 

I can vouch for not letting it sit. My dark blue max was under a tree and I guess a bunch of bird eggs fell out. Part of the mess was on the vinyl bumper, part on the paint, and it could have been a few days before I noticed it,as it was all dried. Nothing worked (bug and tar remover, ammonia, acetone, goo-gone, citric acid, clay bar, etc.). For the body I think I will use the rubbing compound to take off the top layer of paint and protein, then buff and polish the heck out of it. But for the vinyl bumper -- I'm not sure where to start.
