does anyone know how to disarm an alarm without the remote??

i posted this in electronics. i have a problem on my other car (S13). as i went to start it, i noticed that the battery died. when i attempted to jump start it the alarm went off. the previous owner gave me the car with a defective remote on it. so all i have is a key with no remote to disactivate the alarm. this is quite frustrating. is there anything i can do short of having someone chop off the alarm??

there should be a little cut of switch somewhere under the steering wheel, just put the key in and turn it then hit the cut off switch

if its an aftermarket alarm, than there is the valet switch mentioned earlier. however, the valet switch usually comes with a code that you enter (1-5 pushes while the key is in). if its a clifford alarm, there should be a visable panel to enter a code in. if the alarm has any type of starter kill, i suggest bringing it to a stereo shop otherwise, if you attempt to cut the siren or what not, you may not be able to start the car.

i know my car won't start if the alarm is going off...

i have a valet switch on mine. you have to put key in the ignition, turn to on and hold the button in for like 15-30 seconds and it disarms.

that must be a pain...goodluck with that.

In high school I bought a car from an auction. I had it for a couple months and noticed the alarm horn on the firewall, but figured they had taken the alarm out along with the stereo that used to fill the HUGE hole in my dash. Anyways, a friend and I were installing a stereo in my car and when we went to reconnect the battery the friggen thing blows our friggen ears off as we are standing with the hood open right infront with "System armed" or some ****. I'm like WTF was that? So we touch the battery cable to the battery and it repeats itself and starts going off flashing and honking in my garage at 1:30am. LOL! My parents and neighbors were quite thrilled I bet. So, we disconnect the battery, snip the alarm horn, and reconnect the battery. Now all the lights are flashing, but no siren and the car won't start. I'm like oh this is great, I get a new car(at least to me at 17), and I can't friggen drive it. Then we dig and dig under the dash above the steering column and find non-OEM looking parts and start cutting. LOL! We removed two or three shock sensors and one sensitivity adjustment ****. Finally, we found the brain and ripped that sucker out. The car started. Wheew. It was like 2:30-3:00am and I had to drop my friend off, since we had school in the morning. So, we take off and I notice NONE of my friggen dash guages work. No tach, no temp, no speedometer, and better yet no ODOMETER. I'm like oh that's great, now I'm screwed with the warranty or ever selling this POS. Luckily, my friend knew more about electronics than I and knew it was a fuse. Popped in the blown fuse and everything was dandy.

Now to the part that might help you. Luckily, my alarm was made by Viper and still in business(Viper 500 I think), however not so lucky was that the nearest dealer/installer was in Las Vegas about a hour and half away. So, I drive up there and two trips later I finally find someone who knows what they are doing. They cleared all the sodder/jumpers from the code pins and through trial and error recoded the two new fobs to the alarm. So, for $70 I had a NICE Viper 500 talking alarm.

My advice is to dig under the dash and find the brain that is MOST likely mounted to the steering column in a difficult as possible spot. Cut the zip ties holding it and unplug the brain. Hopefully, that allows you to start the car. If so, take the brain to whoever installs that brand and your in business for the cost of new key fobs.

Good luck and let me know how it goes.

that sounds encouraging. yup, that's me. i bought my S13 thinking the alarm was disarmed. there's also a huge hole in the dash because the DIN receiver has been removed. anyway, it's gonna be a pain to remove this alarm. i want to get the car inspected before the swap goes in. hopefully the car will pass! i'll let you know how it goes. thanks.

vipers suck. just unplug the alarm, start the car as usual, then go find someone to take the old stuff out and put in a new alarm, or do it yourself. I've done 3 nissan already with Avital alarms (they're under DEI) and if you pull their brains, the car doesn't start.

If its a Viper, i thought they have little switches thta you switch up and down while you are turning on the car. I put my trigger by the peddles on my 240.
