Hood Hydraulic Arm Props

Does your max's hood FALL every time you open it? mine will stay up only when it's below 40 degrees. Are the replacements of the arm props DIY? or should you seek professionals?

Yeah, mine does it too, but kind of gradually. It'll stay up for a min or two, depending on the incline, and then, BLAM! If I'm under it, I keep having to raise my back to get it back up again...

Yes they are DIY, and it's fairly simple. This has been discussed many times before. I searched for hood struts and found how to and where to get the replacement struts.

So what do you do with the vise grip?

Mine used to fall down unsuspectingly now and then, but now that the weather has turned cold, it won't hold the hood up at all anymore.

i use a crow bar, works perfectly when set in the strut mount hole. if you use vise grips you just clamp them on the shiny silver part of the hydraulic pump thing and it will hold it up.

Or if you have one wedge your Leatherman Multitool behind the hood strut, that's what i do and it works great. Dont have to worry about needing my Visegrips for something else

The stealer wanted like $200 for them, but I got them at Autozone, they had to special order them, they were like $50 or $75. I cant remember. They arent exactly like oem but work well.

Good luck,
Steve

I've used a golf club, but I find that a medium sized paint roller expension pole works the best.

I'm sorry guys, but I have to say this. I live in New Zealand & I would rather spend the money to buy new arms than to use a BROOM STICK. Parts are soo much cheaper up there than down here. I don't mean to **** anybody off, just had to say it.
