Exhaust Smoke on startup
Exhaust Smoke on startup
New to the forum. 2001 Max. Noticed the other morning when my wife started the car, that there was a puff of blue smoke when it started. Very heavy smell. Looked to me like oil had leaked down into a cylinder(s) overnight. It stoppep smoking quickly. Is this a known issue? Would it be covered under warranty? Thanks for any input
Definetely not a known issue. IF you got blue smoke, then for sure you are burning oil. I cant explain how without doing some more diagnoses but for sure you are.
Get it checked under warranty.

Mine did it 3 times since I've had the car(its been about 3 years). It usually happens when I start the engine and then a couple seconds later I turn it off. Then when I go start it up again after it is parked overnight, I get a slight puff and light blue smoke on startup.
Its nothing that I'm worried about unless it happens all the time when the engine it running. My oil still registers at the higher line.
I've seen other cars do this also where it just blows it light blue smoke upon start-up.
