HID Theft Kit By dealer

Today I went into my 7500 mile service and the service guy told that the dealer's lot was hit up over the weekend, they ripped off 49 brand new maximas for the HID's

Anyway, he told me that they have this kit, which costs $350 installed that installs what I assume are sensors on the headlights, he said if anyone touches the headlights with the alarm armed, the alarm will go off.

He went crazy when he saw I had HID's in the fogs too, he really tried convincing me I needed the kit with the hid's in the fogs.

I don't think it's worth it, for 350 I could just add 200 or 300 and add a quality alarm which would protect the hid's and the car itself.

What do you guys think?

By the way the dealer was Route 22 Nissan in Hillside, NJ.

$300+ for an antitheft kit is too much. I need to know EXACTLY what this kit does and include. I hope it is not like $10 in parts and the rest being labor.

unless its a really good alarm...350 is a ripoff. here in nY, i can get a good viper alarm with shock sensors installed for $300. sounds like he is trying to sell you on an alarm...

im in NY, im not worried about my HIDs...i live on long island

He definitely said it was a kit and not an alarm, I don't know about it, but I will find out tomorrow or so and let you guys know, 350 does sound steep though.

Has anybody on the .org actually installed this Courtesy Nissan anti-theft kit? I'm really curious as to how it looks installed, and if it would really do much good.

I'm on long island too... It's funny when I went to check out the stony brook campus, I saw this kid with a cop, his HID's were jacked.... I bet he thought the same thing.

Also, my dealer, baron nissan, was robbed of their HID's. Do you realize how easy they come out??? they take a crowbar and just rip them out.

Playero, have you ever been to Hempstead, Wyandanch, or Amityville????? I'm on LI too and I agree that it is not the crime capital of the world but we have our problem towns too. Not only that, but criminals will go anywhere to get what they need..no one is safe!

I just want to make sure you don't get a false sense of security. Chances are slim that we'll get hit in Nassau, but it can happen. But if I see someone jacking your HIDs I'll bust them up for you . If you see someone jacking a Polished Titanium SE do the same for me!

OH, about a week after I got my car at Habberstadd Nissan they got jacked. Hit about 20 cars in the dealer lot! My sales guy said it was a real professional job. I laughed because that is the kind of stuff that forces NNA to address the problem.

i wish it was Nissan World of Springfield
i hate those SOB's

as for that kit they sell that will make the alarm go off, what use is that if the alarm sucks to begin with. the best thing to do is go with an aftermarket alarm and after seeing that video that playero posted i think im getting that addin for viper
