Does "TRIP" button on steering wheel require Nissan radio?
Does "TRIP" button on steering wheel require Nissan radio?
Hey everybody,
I have a 2k2 SE that came with the Bose system. I have since ripped it out and replaced it with A/M stuff. Now, obviously, the radio buttons don't work on the steering wheel. No surprise there. However, the "Trip" button, which cycles through the functions of the trip computer below the tachometer, does not work either. Does anybody know if this is somehow tied into the radio as well?
Thanks
Lloyd

Yes it is. Search for "steering wheel controls" in the 5th gen forum and the audio forum. You'll find many posts on how to located the wire behind the radio and make the TRIP control work again.
Also, if you A/M HU has an infared remote, you can get a kit from PAC (http://www.go2pac.com) that will allow you to use your stock steering wheel controls with the aftermarket HU. The part number is SWI-X. There are also threads available for installation information as well. Search for "SWI-X" in the audio forum for help.
