Found A Deal, Need To Act Fast

I foind a 2003 6-speed tranny for sale!! Really cheap!! (out of a salvaged max) I would like to know, will it fit in place of my 5-speed? I realize it would cost a lot to have changed, but a deal is a deal. Thanks guys!!

I don't think anybody has done it. we all want to know that it can be done cause many of us would do it if we could find a 6speed tranny and knew it would work.

can anyone please explain me why a 6spd is better than a 5spd. I'm assuming better fuel economy? maybe the 6spd tranny is stronger?? No clue, i'm just curious. Thanks

dumb people think 6 is better than 5 because they think having one more accelerating gear is going to do them a hell of a lot of good.

First, thanks for all the replies. I want the tranny because I think my second gear is messed up, difficult to shift. Second, I know it will not aid acceleration at all, I just want another gear so I will be pulling less revs on the thruway. I dod some research and found that because of the additional gear, it would be a very difficult thus expensive swap. It would be cheaper to have the existing tranny repaired. Thanks!

Thanks for the update. It is cool that you were at least educated abotu why you were doing it, and not just a newbie asking what they can do to make their max faster/better/louder/newer without a0 searching and b0 having a decent reason. Hopefully, this thread will come up in searches.

Not that it really answers the question of whether it is possible, but at least as to whether or not it is at all practical...
