If I was to mount my amp or changer under my seats...what type of screw...should I use....one of those self taping screws?...any help would be appreciated.

Yes...but you posted this in the wrong forum.

Actually, if I just needed to keep something in place under my seat, I would just screw it into the carpet and padding, not into the floor itself. I know that it sounds ghetto, but I have done it before and it works. Remember, a hole in the floor is an invitation for rust.

put it in the trunk

I would take the time and screw it into the floor. If you put silicon around the screw and the hole it wouldn't rust. The carpet and the insulation wouldn't really hold the amp. The best option is to mount it in the trunk, you don't want people to kick your amp or your changers by accident

If you use screws at all 4 corners, an amp will not slide around. I agree that use of silicone can prevent rust, but you will need to seal it up when you remove the amp as well.

Try Velcro

I used big strips of velcro (about $0.85 total) from a hardware store. Self-stick backing, applied two strips to the floor and two to the bottom of the changer. Mine is under the passenger seat (Pioneer CDX-P650) and it has never moved. Then you don't have to worry about a mounting board (and the related clearance issues) or drilling. Or even removing the seat, for that matter!

The only fear here is that in a wreck it might get torn loose and become a very heavy projectile!

true, but...

It IS under the passenger seat, so it will probably be contained. Besides - just about EVERYTHING in the car is a projectile when you get in a crash.

Good point. And enough velcro will most likely do the trick.

Let us know what you do and how it turns out!
