Alternator recall done today...

Middletown Nissan replaced my alternator no questions (even with UDP). I brought in my little slip, which arrived AFTER I made the appointment 2 weeks ago. They did an excellent job; start is healthier, heat warmer, and sound system a little more bouncin'. I was very pleased. Also did a coolant flush, as it was low and I was overdue. I do all my service stuff myself except flushes, because I don't have a place to dispose of the coolant.

edit: okay, percoset is good for typing. not.

It was for 98 Maximas? I own a 98 Max SE, and live in Fairfax, VA. should I try it with a local Max shop?

yes, free is so ownage! Plus I like the people there; they are nice. The parts guys usually hook me up if I need stuff.

You will receive, eventually, a recall notice if your car falls into the VIN's that are affected. 97-98 cars were in that group.

You should do a search for a thread that came up quite a few months back. It listed the range of VIN #s for Maximas/I30s/Q45s that are eligible for free alternator replacement. But I think you need to have a letter with you to show the dealer as "proof" that your Max is in fact eligible.

Mine didn't score a freebie.

If you bought your max from a dealership, you will be registered with Nissan, USA. If not, call a local dealership with your VIN. You should also ask them about registering with Nissan USA.

Does it matter what dealership (i.e. An actual Nissan dealer) as far as being registered with Nissan USA
