Illumina on 5th Gen - Anybody?

Has anybody put the Tokico Illumina on their 5th gen? I noticed that Greg at CustomMaxima is now selling Illumina for the 5th gen.

Are Tokico Illumina's already avaiable for 5th Gens (2000-2003)???...
Last I heard was that the HP's (Blues) were only avaiable???...
Can anyone confirm this???... Because if they are already avaibale I'll have to pick-up a set.

Re: Re: Re: Illumina on 5th Gen - Anybody?

I just sent CustomMaxima an e-mail regarding the availability of the Tokico Illumina Shocks for 5h Gen (2000-2003) Maximas. I also went to their website to check for my self and they are listed in there. We'll see if this holds any truth once i get the reply back from them.
From what i know only the High-Performance Non-Adj. (a.k.a Blues) are
available from Tokico.

From what the website says. It looks there will need a lil work to get these to fit on our 5thgens.. Something about J-bolts?? Will we have to get like 4thgen mounts too for the front? I think the rears should just bolt straight on

I spoke to Tom at custommaxima.com, and that price is for all 4 struts/shocks. I thought it was a typo, or just for the fronts, but it is correct!

I think the J-bolt thing was for the battery tie down

"Dress up your engine with this polished aluminum battery tie-down. Replaces the factory tie-down, and fits perfectly.

Installs in seconds.

Fits 89-99 Maxima's with no modifications, 2000 and up require the 89-99 J-Bolts which you can get at any hardware store. "

They are adjustable(5 settings) and 2000+ require J-bolts to mount them correctly. Maybe they mean camber bolts?? I don't know where you would put a j-bolt on a strut.

A J-bolt? For a strut?

I agree with djPlayboy. The J-bolt is for the battery tie down. I have no idea how a J-bolt fits into our strut assemblies.

Has anybody heard from or gotten in touch with Greg or Tokico on this yet?

Tokico's website does not show an Illumina application for the 2000-2003 Maxima or for any year Max. I tried to call them but, of course i couldn't get through. However, i did leave them a voice mail. We'll see if they get back to me and i'll let you guys know.

I got an email from custommaxima about the 00-01 Reverse indiglos they have for sale. The indiglos they were trying to sell were marketed wrong.

But anyways, in the email I received, apparently their coding got messed up and things got re-arranged and compiled together. My guess is the battery tie down section and the illumina sections got jumbled. I bet the J-bolts are for the tie down, after seeing that email.

But on the other hand, I thought that 4th and 5th gen did not have interchangeable struts...If that is the case, then they will either need modification to fit the 4th or 5th gen...I guess time will tell.

So who will be the first to get these?

You're right about the j-bolt thing. I didn't see the sentence in the Tokico description that talked about "dressing up your battery"

So as everyone else has said, we will wait to see if they are a direct bolt-on.

Well guys. I finally got a reply back from CustomMaxima. This is what they had to say about the Illumina shocks for 5th Gen's (2000-2003):

" NO. We only carry Tokico Illumina's for the 4th Gen Maximas."

-Tom

Kinda sucks. MISLEADING if you ask me.

Yea that is a typo. Someone used the Illumina description for the Blue's description. Look at the price difference. The Blue's are like $305 or something and the 95-99 Illumina's are around $490. I think Greg needs to fix his descriptions.

They messed up their site when they did the upgrade...I was ****ed when I saw the reverse indiglos for the 00-01, and after emailing them and telling them they screwed up they sorta fixed it...The title still says for 00-01, but the actual page says 98-99...Oh well..I guess the wait continues
