well my hids are gone

my brother had my car in irvington nj ,he caught the guys in the act, lost his temper and chased them in my car ,they had a stolen audi a4 so he could'nt keep up ,good thing they could've had a gun. the car is not to bad other then the ripped out wires and 2 scratched dents where the pryed the lights out from the corners. i think i'm going to get 2001 AE lights and get a body kit,y-pipe and pulley with the saved money. has anyone done the this conversion so far? how much are the AE headlights new?

I feel your desire to not having them stolen again. Mine's were stolen on Jan 2 and I still don't have the car fixed, most likely monday.I saw them taking off with the lights too. It seems that it's a pattern, in Newark there were also a bunch of kids in a stolen A4 stealing cars, was the A4 black by any chance?

well, i'm glad i park in a garage downtown, and at home...

I still think I may need to do some reinforcing tho...

that's a bunch of crap...

are you going to replace them with y2k and 2k1 lights?

I would...

so you don't have to go throught that crap again..

Hey quansung 2,
do you have an aftermarket alarm by any chance. I'm thinking about getting one. Not sure if it's gonna help.

I just wonder how they steal those A4's so easy, aren't Audis supposed to be tougher to steal?

I remember I called the cops on a bunch of kids once in a black A4, they were riding around the street slowly, they pulled up to a big pickup truck with 3 or 4 dirtbikes in the bed, they got out, saw that the bikes were all locked to each other, and they moved on, I called the cops on them when I saw them getting into a Legend. The driver of the car was no older than 15 years old.

It's sick because I was not born in America, and I am grateful for coming here since there is so much more opportunity here but these young kids still waste their given opportunity so easily just to make a few bucks.

Dude, whats your comp deductible set at?? Mine used to be $200 but I changed it to $50. The cost only went up $3 a month. That won't happen w/ collision, but you should look into comp. You may be surprised. Are you even considering going through your insurance to replace them?

they feel they have no opportunity and to some extent they are justified but that's another topic all together.

Not just in Newark... I heard that an Audi was found, by the Florham Park Police, in the train station parking lot. When they opened the trunk, the Cops found a dozen HID lights inside.

Mine were stolen by a couple of hoods in a black A4 as well.

I have an aftermarket alarm now, and am parking in a garage at home. I hope that helps, but if it happens to me again I'm switching to the halogens.

My bodyshop made one quick phone call to the dealer about replacing the HIDs with halogens, but were told it wasn't possible. Does anyone know someone locally (NJ) that will make the conversion? I'd like to know I could park in the street, and sleep soundly at night.
